It's quite amasing this phone. Is not the best phone ever made but it is a great choice if you have no interest for using a BuiltIn camera phone.
So, buy yourself a 1Gb SD/MMC and put this phone to work! It is not going to dissapoint you!
Try as much as you can to leave at least 2Mb free memory on the IPSIM! In this case you will avoid any program crush! Find a proper Mp3 player and a mpeg/avi player, an original stereo headset and u will find the best compagnion in this phone!
Indeed, unfortunately, the accumulator is not going to help you as much as you wanted to so...Buy a spare one! :)))

To Ryan: the rigntones must be .wav or .mid files, but you can convert from .mp3 to .wav easily. With the usb cable you can transfer any data to the mobile through ActiveSync that comes whith the phone in a CD.

So with this phone (mpx200) you can or can NOT put .mp3 ringtones on it? The USB cable that comes with it can transfer the ringtones through it and you don't need any additional software, right??? Someone, please respond

Just purchased this h/p.It's o.k for me.The attachable camera is a bit dissappointing so if u intend to buy the accessory better think again.Might as well if u use infrared & transfer photos & ringtones from other h/p.I used Nokia 6600 to transfer & Its can accept the pics & ringtones without any problem. But make sure u have MMC card for the reserved memory space.Thanks.

hello all,
i find this phone in a shop in france (i 'm french of course) for about 300E.
do you think that i can buy it blindly?
i had some smartphone (like spv e200, P800 (Sony)and a motorola accompli 008 bought in september, and i love it.
i didn't know moto before it, and i can say that i was happy surprised in using this phone.congratulation moto.
i think that the mpx200 has a great design, all i need, and like i want a clamshell smartphone, i think it' s the ONE i need.
thanks for ur critics which can help me to take my decision.
good bye, and sorry i'm going to forget, happy new year.

@System Error
There might be differences concerning the software but I do not think that there are any differences concerning the hardware because the costs for different production lines would simply be too high. If there are differences concerning technical specs I assume that they are all either software -and/or pin-wise.
see engine-manufacturer (mercedes benz, volkswagen andsoon) with their engine-management-software and/or cpu manufacturers (AMD Duron/Athlon) with cutted pins in order to change specs

But I have to admit that once you have the phone at your ear you can experience the knowledge and experience Moto has with clamshell phones.
It just seems to fit perfectly. This is something I miss with other manufacturers.

I can tell you some users are enthusiastic...
I use this phone now for some time (approx 5 month). Even as there are some features I wouldn't like to miss anymore there are also some disturbing issues.
I will only list the disturbing ones:
- no mp3/wma ringtone with official OS
- really slow performance with official OS
- bad playback quality with original windows media player, but using pocketmusic with enhancements you will get pauses in playback often (once again) with official OS
- often freezing OS
So as you can see all the problems occur with the official OS (that is Windows Mobile 2002). Contrary if you use Windows Mobile 2003 you will get rid of these issues but will have:
- no guarantee
- battery lifetime issues, there is some kind of software memory effect
- no MMS support.
I blame Motorola for leaving its customers alone in favor for the MPX220 which as I hear is also buggy.
So I suspect that neither the QA-Team is very small or not very capable.
Would you like to buy a phone from such a company.
I am not going to buy any Moto's anymore, so this one is my fifth and last Moto.

It`s great phone,Windows for Smartphone is cool,but battery life isn`t enough...only 2 days.But the price here is very good...about 230 USD.
And about your problems guys...sorry but your providers sell fake phones, especially AT&T...there are lots of those phones made for them and other companies that are with buggy soft and hardware;that`s why there are so many fucking problems.
Buy phones only from certified dealer, not from the mobile operator. They are more expensive but the quality of these phones is 10 times better.
Best regards,System Error

Battery Life depends on the Windows you run on this baby. If you "upgraded" to Win 2003 which is by the way not released from Moto you might get the battery life issue.
Like any other modern handset it will only work correctly with the latest SIM cards, but this is the issue of your provider as they are informed about this.
Unfortunately it is not possible to set mp3's as a ringtone but with the unofficial Win 2003 release (yeah, the one with the battery life issue) you will be able to have wma ringtones.

This phone sucks I have gone through two of them and the manufacturer keeps on sending me used ones which suck they won't admit their is something wrong with the phone and I spent at least an hour talking to them seeing if my sims card was working. If were up to me I would never get another motorola again and would switch to another plan. Don't get this phone if yopu do get a new one and don't expect it to work over a month.
