Motorola present the MC55 - the smallest of their digital assistants

10 March, 2009

The Motorola MC55 is a special breed of mobile phones. Motorola's Enterprise Digital Assistants (or EDA) are Windows Mobile-based devices custom-fit for the business. Motorola MC55 sports GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity plus Wi-Fi support. The integrated GPS provides various location-based services such as real-time fleet management, geo-fencing and bread-crumbing for dispatchers.

Equipped with a 3.5-inch QVGA touchscreen, the Motorola MC55 has an IP54-certified ruggedized design plus a full QWERTY keyboard. It comes in two models and multiple configurations, making the device highly scalable to meet the business needs.

The Motorola MC5590 model offers wireless WLAN and Bluetooth connectivity for workers mostly inside the four walls - including healthcare workers in a hospital environment, as well as retail or hospitality associates.

The Motorola MC5574 model is equipped with wireless WAN, WLAN and Bluetooth capabilities to support workers in the field, such as maintenance personnel and postal and delivery workers.

The Motorola MC55 is based on the Marvell XScale PXA270 520 MHz processor and runs on Microsoft® Windows® Mobile 6.1 OS.

The MC55 EDA family of products also offers a variety of data capture options such as a 1D laser scanner or a 2D imager. A 2-megapixel autofocus snapper can also be added to either the scanner or imager to allow for image capturing.

The Motorola MC5590 and MC5574 EDAs will be available worldwide as of Q3 2009.
