I got my V9 through a network service provider in HK...which doesn't offer 3G service!

Just curious, how long did you buy your V9 and K1?
I got my K1 in May (US$128, no contract unlock), which I used it quite a bit during my business trip in US, and I had absolutely no problem about it.
I got my V9 for about US$250 with one month of contract (US$7), a supermarket coupon worth US$7, and a Moto W181, which I sold for US$25. Which made my V9 cost me US$225. I have been using my V9 for about 3 weeks now and I haven't encountered any of the problem you mentioned.
In Hong Kong, the service policy is, the phone can be exchanged for a new one within first 7 days of purchase. I.e. on the problems you encountered, within 7 days, you could simply get a brand new replacement phone.
After 7 days, Moto in HK is offers one of the best after sales service:
1)Waiting time to drop off the phone is less than 5 mins in most cases, vs. over an hour for the almighty brand and the I ? music brand. One of the reasons is, if you're dissatisfied with Moto's quality, don't bother with I ? music phones in HK...Moto is HK is like Maytag in US...with the lonely repairman!
2)Sales receipt is not required unlike other brands, so you can take the phone for service anytime you want.
3)Maintenance time is guarantee to be within 60 mins. According to my experience, usually I can get my phone back within 50 mins...if not 40 mins.
How can they fix phones within 40mins? They simply don't fix phones anymore! In most cases they simply change the motherboard of the phone.
Hence other than the housing, practically one gets a brand new phone!
So next time you come to HK, you may want to get a "quality" Moto phone with quality service...as if you'll ever need it!

For examples, cars are called Mustang, Corvette, or at least some kind of abbreviation like Cadillac CTS, STS, vs. the European cars like S600, 750iL, etc..
V9m should be the CDMA version, as most Moto CDMA phones recently have the "m" as the suffix.

Anonymous, 16 Oct 2008How is the Crytsal Talk of RAZR2 V9? Does it really work? ... moreOne day I called my friend using both Moto Zn5 and V9, both with Crystal Talk, and he told me V9 provides slightly better voice quality over Zn5. Not that Zn5 is bad, as if Zn5 gets an A, V9 should be A+ or A++.
Never heard of other brands can match the voice quality of Crystal Talk, especially the "I ? Music" company's bar phones...where all background noise comes free of charge....while the human's voice can hardly be heard!

Don't understand why the price group is rated a 6/10?!....no wonder everyone is complaining that the V9 is expensive!!!
The Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte is rated at a 9/10 price group, which mean that the 8800 should cost about 1/3 more than the V9; which is not true in my country(Hong Kong).
Nokia 8800 is retailing for approx. US$1,200. & the V9 for about US$350. ; which makes the Motorola V9 a bargain & an excellent buy!
I brought my V9 approxmately 6 months ago for US$320.(with a discount from my provider & a free promotion phone from Motorola).
The phone is quite solid build & the camera is very good for a 2MP. Taking pictures at night with dim lighting is not bad; & the picture came out bright & clear.

v9 fan , 03 Oct 2008hi this is the first time that i have writtin can someone p... more2MP camera...QCIF video recorder...no memory card included...and a 45MB internal memory...it's a mid-end phone man...it's way too expensive for what it's worth...the keypads loose their responsiveness after 8 months or so...bottomline: NOT WORTH IT

one word..."expensive"...too expensive for what it's worth...it's just a regular phone with the price tag of a PDA...cant even last for more than a year...guys, it's a waste of money...i dont mean to offend anyone, but I'd rather go back to using SE or Nokia...
