PMKLR3m, 01 Jun 2023Is it normal that I think, that vanilla 40 is better then ultra?Well it's pretty much depends on what you think suits you the best. If you think the vanilla 40 is better than the +, I think you already got your answer. I myself would say that the vanilla 40 is not bad. It actually comes with a much larger battery abd refresh rate is still better than almost every flagship at 144hz and if the price is so much more competitive then why not.

I think this is a step in the right direction. I'm really interested in the successor to this next year. Hopefully they release it sooner, like Mar/Apr.

PMKLR3m, 01 Jun 2023Why ufs 2.2 moto? WHY?!The Xiaomi Civi 2 has the same chipset with UFS 2.2, so it's likely a chipset limitation. Sad.

David 040882, 01 Jun 2023Well you got a point there. But honestly wouldn't you ... moreEh, I'm mostly just rambling and saying which one I would choose if I wanted a flip phone and had only 2 brands to choose from. However I don't want a flip phone, and Samsung, Motorola aren't the only 2 players anymore, so if I really wanted one, I would just buy the vivo X Flip.

The Z Flip 5 doesn't matter here, as the regular Razr 40 is worse than even the Z Flip 4, so of course it's also worse than the upcoming Z Flip 5, however the Razr 40 Ultra likely has a bigger display than what the Z Flip 5 will have, so the Motorola will look more impressive, but be less powerful. I would still choose the Razr 40 Ultra, even over the upcoming Z Flip 5.

Why did they include such a big battery for such a small screen? Are they planning to have the phone last a week?

However if I had to choose between the regular Razr 40 and the Z Flip 4, I would go with the Samsung because it's much more powerful and costs about the same, if not less. The 7 gen 1 isn't weak, but for this price, it isn't enough.

just a smile, 01 Jun 20237 gen 1, seriously? Can't they just use a 7+ gen 2 in here?People tend to forget how much time is needed for the phone development before it gets announced. They didn't know back then how's chip gonna perform in comparation with other premium mid-range class of chipsets.
And we shouldn't forget we're still in chip shortage also. How many phones did we saw with S6G1 or S7G1? Not many right? And when did they got announced? Last year! How about S782G? Just one phone from Honor.
I believe for a type of users this phone is made for, it shouldn't be a big deal if has S7G1 or S7+G2 or something from Dimensity 8000 series.
This phone is made for people wanting the foldable phone but not want to pay for a thousand bucks. We all know what are foldable flip phones. They are not for serious power users.
So, why did Motorola, like HTC for U23 Pro or some others phone models, choose the inferior and cheaper chipset S7G1 instead of newer, much stronger and more expensive S7+G2? Well, the answer is in the question it self. They wanted the smallest price they can get to because they want to offer their foldables to broder audience, so they need the pricetag to be low as it can. To majority of people banchmark scores in mobile chipsets means nothing. They don't know the difference. That's important only for us, the geeks and mobile freaks.

Anonymous, 01 Jun 2023Way more interesting than ultra. How so? Samsung's Z Flip 4 is a much better phone, than this and a much better deal, as you can find it for less than this at the moment.
The Razr 40 Ultra however, is better than the Z Flip 4 in my opinion.

C'mon Moto. I think this phone is intended to be the entry point into foldables for a lot of ppl. Why use SD 7 Gen 1 when the SD7 Gen 2 is out and so much more capable?
