TeddyG, 21 Nov 2011No Gyroscope in a new high-end device?! Beside it's GLONASS... moreWhy do you say the GLONASS capabity is rubbish? Did youever try using the navigation system. It locks the GPS in just a few seconds once you have entered the location. Besides, the fact that without a gyrosensor does not make this phone a rubbish, since not all other high ends phones out there have that and it is not a must have item for daily smartphone used.
Therefore what you have put down on your comments are simply unjustified. I guessed you have never owned or use this phone for even 5 minutes to come up with this comment.

klk, 22 Nov 2011prove itGo and look at the face-off test at smartphoneenvy and you can see the prove. You can also run the face off right beside the video to find out yourself, there is no need to argue. Also, download the app Antutu and passmark performance test from the market
and run it yourself, you weill be surprised how great the razr is doing over th SGSII.

This phone has smart action technology that can control its function to save power. Also, you can use 2G instead of 3G. This is the beauty of the phone as it can save a lot of battery power over 3G connection. I guess people do not know this phone enough before they made up this comment here.

AnonD-30862, 05 Dec 2011Can anyone recommend me whether to buy the Motorola RAZR XT... moreBuy the Motorola Razr becasue it has incoporated some advanced technology in the phone that even Samsung did not have. One is the smart action and the otehr one is Motocast. Smart action allows you to set different functions for the phones at different time frames under different trigger conditions. Second, the motocast allows you to access your home computer
from your cell phone from anywhere Over the air without physically connecting to your hoem computer. In my opinions, only these 2 advanced technologies is already enough to warrant a place on my buy list for this phone over the SGS2, not to mention others aspects which are better than the SGS2 like the resolution, Pixels, batetry life and in most cases, speeds, as well.

If you go to smartphoneenvy web site and look at teh face off comparision between the raza and the SGS2, you will find that teh razr is faster in every aspect except for teh quardrant benchmark test. I have also run Passmark performance and AnTuTu benchmark between these two device and the test all show Razr is faster than the SGSII

SamSam, 12 Dec 2011You all have described exactly what I am also experiencing ... moreJust keeping the phone idle does not help the battery frain. You ahve to set teh smart actions to turn off all wifi, data transmission, background synconization, GPS etc and also utilise the task manager to auto end all teh talks two mins after the screen turn off. Also set teh phone to 2G while idling. I used these techniques and my razr only drains 10% of battery in 4 hours.

Spinme, 14 Dec 2011Maybe you could say difference between Motorola RAZR XT912 ... moreThe motorola XT910 is the US version calle dthe droid razr capable of $G LTE conenction. Whereas the XT910 is available in Canada and other parts of the world
as 2G/3G HSPA version. The XT910 has much better battery life because of the capability of being able to be set to 2G while using phone only. When ever downlaod is required, an easy switch back to 3G can do the job. This way will save batetry life a lot.

In my opinion , it is just an excuse to step down thsi phone. Thsi phoen can last at least 15 hours if you use it under the 2G/3G network in conjuction with the built-in smart action application, if you know how to set them up.

tabron, 15 Dec 2011yes, i didn't buy this phone because of the non-repleacable... moreWhy are people the so concern about removable battery?Look at the iphone 4S, the battery is also non- removable and over billion of units have been sold world wide, even more than Samsung GSII. So, s non-removable battery is not the determining factor for the razr. People just use thsi as an excute to step thsi phoen down in favour of GSII or other phones. I owned a new motorola razr and the battery can last from 7:00a.m to 11:00p.m and still have 20% left. So
Non removable batetry is definitely not a problem at all.

Mobilemaster, 21 Dec 2011Hi! The Razr is better than the SG2, I can see this as well... moreHello! Yes I've seen the drop test. Being made of plastic does not mean it should break in a simple fall test. First thing to break in todays touch screen phones are the displays, not the actual housing.
There are many types of plastic, and many ways to work with plastic. Some are more successful than others. The reason the SII is so slippery is it's very design, like a mousepad with pores for the mouse to slide over easily with the least amount of friction possible. Good for a mousepad, bad for something you need to hold in your hands. Hence the thickening back plate, making it about 10mm thick all over, not just the bottom.
Plastic also "gives after" easier then metal, hence dust can get inside it's cracks more easy when in your pocket.
Yes, the SII is older, and the Atrix even older then that one. Hardware wise, it's not much hich separates any of these. All dual-core with 1GB RAM and running Android.
Samsung disappointed me with the SII one some key points. Screen res (and also I find SAMOLED Plus to be highly overrated), much lower than on the Atrix which was already available, battery compared to the almost 2000 mAh of the Atrix, and no HDMI and neither any particular exiting docks nor bundled software thats actually useful. The insane color balance of Sammy's display also made gaming annoying. Especially classic SNES games.
I like trying new phones. I had Atrix, then SII, then back to Atrix and now RAZR. The new Lapdock for RAZR is also much more affordable than the one for Atrix, which I never bought the Lapdock for, but had the Multimedia HDMI-dock bundled.
I'm suprised Samsung have waited so long with the successor for the SII. When I had it, it's obvious weak points made it seem like a little milking cow with many weak points with a more complete model just around the bend. making you want to upgrade asap when that would come. Obviously, that hasn't happened this far. SII is a good phone with some set backs in other words. Higher res, more correct color balance, better backplate, HDMI and better battery on it and it would have been a wonderful phone. A phone that fits this description though, is actually both Atrix and RAZR.
That's why i went back to Atrix which, all in all, (despite no S-AMOLED [Plus]) was a better phone on a daily basis than the SII. Especially for surfing and the wonderful Tegra Zone for games. Also 4" phones fits my hands better then 4.3", but for the RAZR and no need for back plate thickening it up, it's OK. If a similar comes soon in 4", maybe I'll opt for that.

Anonymous, 21 Dec 2011I disagree completely an am very glad I'm rid of the SII an... moreHi! The Razr is better than the SG2, I can see this as well. But you forget that the SG2 is much older than this phone. Wait for the GS3, which will be much better than the current SG. You say that the SG2 is made of plastic. Well yes, but did you saw the drop test of the SG2? When you drop the SG2, it will work well. There is something I don't really like on the SG2, and this is the battery. This one has a better battery. HTC is weaker than Samsung in this department. Their high-end devices has a weak battery.
I admit that Motorola is the leader in terms of battery. :)

Anonymous, 19 Dec 2011i definately agree its not about whose phone is better its ... moreI disagree completely an am very glad I'm rid of the SII and now use the RAZR. The SII is much too low-res for it's screen size. Felt way to plasticky and I had to make it thicker all over with a rubber back panel, due to it being so slippery. Like most Samsung phones have been for ages.
The RAZR is not as slippery to hold, the screen res. is worthy of it's screen size and best of all is all the Moto features. You can probably see the SII score a higher benchmark in some tests due to it's much lower screen res., but in reality the RAZR is better all over.
Not to forget obvious benefits such as HDMI! No longer have to use both the annoying TV-out + minijack to RCA as with the SII.
Battery also lasts longer. No need to always use the car charger or charge it during work time.
You can not just say that the SII is better when they cost about the same, and the RAZR har better connection ports (HDMI), better screen res, higher battery capacity, better building material, is splash proof, has Webtop, MotoCast and Smart Actions, and a chipset of which the Android 4 ICS is based on (TI).
Sure, the SII is a good phone, but the RAZR is better. Same goes for the Atrix. In dail use, it's better than the SII.
