someone, 22 Feb 2009all the people who say this phone is bad.im sure all of you... moreI don't have Z10, though I can't figure out how to perform simple tasks (like creating a playlist) on my Z8.

Believe Z10 and Z8 run on the same O/S, so can you help?

I can't understand why simple tasks are being "complicatized" in Z8/Z10...or is that what "smartphones" are really are? Trying to outsmart the users?

This phone is exceptionally beautiful and very unique, but other than that it sucks. The learning curve on this phone is too long, and even once you achieve it you are constantly fighting the phone at every step. Doing something as simple as changing the wallpaper is prolonged agony and requires a series of commands and steps and affirmation that require precision of the highest degree. The software seems unfinished and unrefined, actually it is overtly complex. I will put it to you all simply: A good smart phone supposed to enrich your life, it supposed to make your life easier and more convenient. This phone is the complete opposite. There is nothing easy about this phone other than using the camera. Actually utilizing this phone as a tool is a dramatic and drastic negative experience that overshadows the wonderful design. I wish they made this phone with a Linux OS.

This phone is insanely difficult to use. There are really no words to describe it. It was a terrible mistake to buy this phone. Especially coming from a Motorola V8. The phone design is very nice, even though the screen is on the small side. But the details in the phone are exceptional. It feels like a solid phone and it is unlike any other in looks. But in terms of software, it is a poor example of technology at it's worst and most confusing. Well, at this point I will say yesterday's technology. This phone was already way outdated when it was released. Don't be fooled by the appearance and the uniqueness, it will drive you crazy. And I am quite versed in learning new technology and making the best of it's shortcomings. This phone is beyond reproach. STAY AWAY!!!

Motorola dropped the ball on this one. This could have been a great phone. The kick-slide phone factor was nice, as well as its metallic housing. It failed in a number of ways. First and foremost is the operating system. What were they thinking??!! The OS in this phone is the worst ever, so complicated and counter-intuitive. They should have used the OS in the RAZR2 V9 (I actually can't believe that I gave away my V9 and bought this damn phone!). The OS in the V9 was so easy to use. Secondly, they should have ditched the "film-studio-on-the-fly" idea. It just doesn't work since the phone keeps on crashing! Also, the 3.2MP camera is so behind - I mean, Samsung had 5MP capability in their phones when this was announced! Samsung has 8MP now, by the way. I was so wanting to like this phone, but I have to say I am very disappointed. A thumbs-down for this one.

alex, 16 Jan 2009100moto can answer your question guys Sorry, not for Z10, due to:

1)Z10 was never made available where I live!

2)I already had much headache with my Z8 to the point even if Z10 would be available, I would not consider it.

Symbian UIQ (on Moto phones particularly) = Bad Worse Worst!

Still, it’s a good thing that Motorola finally got it’s act together and managed to at least officially announce this MOT Z10. I was actually able to play with it some, during Smartphone Show in London, and I’m pretty impressed.

Motorola Z10 is a solidly built handset, that feels well in your hand, is easy to carry around and operate. The camera features is the highlight of MOTO Z10, and they work really well. Pressing the dedicated key, camera loads pretty fast, the shutter speed is good as well.

And I really liked the video editor that comes bundled with Motorola Z10. The editor works great for editing short movies taken with the handset. It’s very easy to use and I was able to create short film with opening credits, text annotations, some special effects and erasing some unwanted frames within 10 minutes that I had chance to use it.

MOTO Z10 phone that I used, wasn’t connected to the network, so I was not able to test it’s video uploading capabilities, but from what I saw they should work pretty easy and well too.

Overall Motorola Z10 leaves the impression of a really well built, solid device with great camera features. There’s one problem though.

MOTO Z10 would have been a great flagship for Motorola half a year ago. But today, a camera centric phone, with only 3.2 megapixel camera is nothing to write home about.

The camera features, multimedia editing and video uploading work equally well on LG Viewty KU990, Nokia N95 8GB and Nokia N82, Samsung G800, or Sony Ericsson K850i. And these handsets already come with 5 megapixel cameras and have a better overall feature collection.

So unless the price points for Motorola Z10 are attractive enough, I don’t see many users choosing it over the competition.

                              Full MOTO Z10 specs include:

Dual mode UMTS 2100, HSDPA 3.6Mbps Quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE Class 12 Connectivity
3.2 megapixel camera, Superfast burst mode delivers 3 shots per second
                              30 fps video capture
2.2 QVGA, 16m color TFT display with 30 fps video playback
Storyboard editing allows for combination of multiple videos, addition of soundtrack, commentary and visual effects

microSDHC memory card support (up to 8GB now, up to 32GB when the cards are available)

Ive always been a fan of Motorola phones. Had loads of them over the years such as the V3, V3i, V3x, V70, Wings, Star tac, V80, and so on and to be honest i think this one is fantastic.
Ive always been a fan of their design innovation and the Z10 continues this with the kick slide which allows the handset to bend as its opened which allows the microphone to get closer to your mouth than other sliders therefore improving call quality
The camera is great for 3.2 MP, it blows the Nokia 6500 Slide away and even the 5.0 MP Samsung phones.
The video editing software is the best i've come across on a mobile and again the video capture i excellent quality and as with all modern Motorolas they sync directly with Windows Media Player so music transfer is ridiculously easy
Would of been a hit had Motorola launched it on more networks rather than just O2 but on the whole i would recommend it

This is the most complicated phone I have ever used. I just sit and scratch my head wondering what Moto was thinking. It is a lovely phone other than the OS however. But I am wondering whether Motorola should be in the cell phone business.

Got the z10 today and it looks very nice however its flawed, the symbian O/S is sooo bad it makes the phone almost useless. Everything is so complicated, simple thing like setting the wallpaper requires at least seven yes 7 commands and when you can get your wallpaper set half the time it will not fit the screen... It wont open large picture files say over 1Mb which is just a poor show. Nobody can deny its a lovely looking phone but its just way too much hard work to use every day. Poor phone Poor O/S.. Bad show Moto....
