i think it's because Sony Ericsson had already the right to license UIQ. and motorola uses UIQ so they decided to sell it only at vodafone.

Wow I didnt realize there were so many die-hard moto fans out there.
Thing is, after I've owned a Moto, it makes me wonder how people can think Moto makes good phones after you've used it.
Theyre pretty and all, but the UI, ease-of-use and quality seems to lag a little behind other brands.
But this is my opinion after using the v600 (the speaker stopped working after a while so I had to sell it; same thing happened to my friend's v300).
Motorola might be a very creative company but they should work on the quality of their phones.
Just an opinion, no hard feelings.
If this wasn't a Motorola and had better specs I would buy it in a heartbeat.

motorola are trying to improve the inside of the phones not the outside that is why they release the same handset cover time and time

                      to richard buchanan,

and also, this one is UIQ 3.1 powered. so it has very good UI and looks like P990 without touchscreen. but how about the non-os phones of moto? if you try comparing the SE's latest JP-7 enabled K800 to Razr V6 which is better? i know you know what UI will be better. but don't mean V6's UI graphics isn't good and is better compared to S40 and S60 too. but the great UI feeling of SE really counts for sure.

                        to PDLx(no name)

it's because UIQ is built with so many kernels supporting every possible features that can't be seen at s60. but if nokia will make S90 and S80 back then. UIQ will have a serious fight with those.

                          to richard buchanan,

the SE's 3 UIQ phones plays VGA videos in 30 fps also. but if it could have touchscreen for handwriting recognition it'll be better i think. remember that this is a new UIQ phone. and SE just plans to launch 2 UIQ phones this Q1 with the new UIQ 3.1 too. the older UIQ 3.0 phones were already in a year since introduced and remember SE has just aquired UIQ technologies. so expect SE to do better along with the other UIQ phones.

but anyhow. if moto and SE will help each other for the new platform then UIQ will make very good steps towards success IMHO.

If i compare between "Nokia 9500", "Nokia 9300" and "Motorola Z8"; i prefer "Motorola Z8". Nokia never never learn from their "Nokia Communicators" problem. From "Nokia 9110", "Nokia 9210", "Nokia 9300", "Nokia 9300i", and "Nokia 9500" always same problem; hang problem. I think that's same problem will happen with "Nokia E90". Is that's good performance?

                                  this is a multi-purpose phone
kudos to motorolla for the innovations.

If you want compare. I can compare too, i prefer to buy "Motorola Q" than "Nokia E61" and "Sony Ericsson M600", "Nokia E61" expensive and doesn't has camera / video camera. "Sony Ericsson M600" doesn't has camera / video camera and un-comfortable "Qwerty Keyboard". With the same price between "Nokia E61", "Sony Ericsson M600" amd "Motorola Q"; i better choose "Motorola Q" because much much good performance.

Come on Nokia. Come on Sony Ericsson. "High End" or "Middle End" Mobile doesn't has camera / video camera? Don't just copy cat Motorola Concepts.

the phone certainly looks good, and it has a lot of good stuff in it, but they didnt do much to make this phone any better than the other motorolas. its still a looks like a great phone though
