your rizr z8 will be a multimedia monster ONLY AFTER you change the stock firmware. There are a lot of available modded firmwares such as elegance, foxmod, etc.
I updated mine with rizrvistaz8 firmware and now my z8 is definitely worth keeping. no more annoying bugs whatsoever.

hello guys,i have the z8 for a year and a couple of month its a wonderful phone,motorola center in egypt fixed all the problems about the z8 and upgraded the firmwall,my advice go for this phone if u like music net calling fashion.if u like camera go for the z10 its a very good phone too my bro has it.all what i can say well done moto just change the os and screen and it would have been a monster cheers!!dont buy if u like to instal games as u ll find problems with that.

modmymoto.com there are a lot of advices about flashing and resolving your problems with z8.I recommend to install "elegance" monsterpack because after i had done this i didn't have any more problems.Sorry if i wasn't allowed to say this.

ARyan, 10 Mar 2009to forward a song using a bluetooth, go to the ff: *MENU ... morei,ve tried to follow the instruction on sending the song on a bluetooth but i cant see where is the file manager, you know this phone is complicated it just freeze when you are taking video or just went blank and you cant do anything with it. somebody help me as well on how to download more songs. i just love this phone but it is sometimes irritating

After 9 months with my Z8, I might say goodbye to it afterall.
Yesterday I called my wife, all of the sudden the phone shut itself down...obviously dropped the call, and wife was going "why did u hang up on me???"
There is practically nothing on my Z8...no additional program (other than those straight from Moto itself), not even any playlist for music...
Periodically the phone shut itself down while charging as well.
I already gave up what all other functions it should perform...just to use it as a "phone" for dial out and receive calls. However, Z8 seems to fail even the most fundamental requirement as a phone.
I still like its design, despite some may complain about its ergonomics. I really really wish somebody can simply install any other type of O/S into my Z8...even the basic P2K, which would make it work like my Z3...which still works as a phone. (with "ok" music player)
Planning to sell my Z8 this weekend, though not sure how much I can get out of it...or if any electronic stores offers a good trade-in deal, I might get a VE66. (though under current economic situation, better get some cash instead of spending on another mobile, as eventually prices for VE66 may drop below US$120...)
How about the 3G function? I'm planning to dig out my good old V3x or E770, either of which still works better as a "phone" than Z8.

Saran, 13 Mar 2009I live in Nepal and there is no service centres for Motorol... moreThat's exactly what happened to my phone! there is nothing you can do my friend, you need to get your phone to a phone service centre - even if you don't have a motorolla centre, why not just find a repairshop that repairs mobile phones? They should be able to help!
This phone is one piece of JUNK! It craps out and spoils so fast, even with tender loving care!

This is the world's crappiest phone!!!!!! DO NOT BUY, RENT OR STEAL!!! Not worth it!!!
IT freezes, and now it's gone dead on me - after 9 months! The screen turned fucshia and lime green and refused to boot up. Also, a MAJOR problem is the battery!!!! Without even using the phone at all, the mattery lasts only 15-18 hours, you can't even get a full day out of this crappy thing!
Also, the function buttons are hard to use and to get to. The design is all wrong, the buttons are so hard that i need 2 hands to sms, when i can easily do it with one hand on other phones! It's bulky, and cos of the "curve" in the design, you can't get to any button with one hand! The design is way too flawed! Performance is bad, the battery life sucks and as you can see it doesn't last!

This is a crap phone, i got mine in july of 08 and it freezes and restarts all the time, its slow and the sound is bad.... it wount even switch on now, so unfortunately im forced to use my old nokia 6630.... buying this phone was my biggest mistake ever....

I live in Nepal and there is no service centres for Motorola z8 phones here. My phone doesn't start up. when you switch it on, the motorola logo is displayed and then it shuts down. Somebody, please help. If you can instruct me on how I can solve this problem, it would be great.
