Cool Phone. This is the best motorola phone in the recent times.
This phone has got too many good features, like adaptable key pad, good look and decent UI flow.
Phone is pretty fast in response and music player is too good

As i read the review from Mobile88.com [ http://www.mobile88.com/cellphone/Motorola/Motorola-ROKR-E8/review.asp ], the design definitely cool but screen is too small and the navigation take a while to familliar with. Other then Music features other features are a bit dissapointed.

The specs on the phone mention support for "Microsoft Music Ecosystem". Has anyone tried this phone with DRM based subscription services such as Napster? Does it support MTP?

guys, i think i found a bug... play videos on it, set audio settings and fire up the bass boost.... go back in playing music, it retains the setting and audio quality of the video settings (i prefer it to be better since bass quality is a bit richer)... but then when you go to audio settings while on music playing mode, it reverts back to the EQ settings you have, which a disgrace IMO, it sounds crystal clear but absolutely poor bass reproduction...
don't know if it only happens on my phone though.... :)

Been using the phone for almost a month and over all i'm satisfied with its features. My only complain is the batteries staying power - i charge my phone everyday and it sucks.

oh, and THANK GOD motorola finally got it through whomever's thick skull thought that a m-f-ing loud-a** low battery beep when the phone is in silent mode was a good idea, is a terrible idea and so it does NOT beep, it merely vibrates.

posted this at howard forums official rokr e8 thread:
I spent a week or two looking at reviews of this phone (howard forums, here, cnet.au, mobile-review.net), and decided to go for it. Figured I'd say a couple words to add to the mix, answer questions that I was wondering about for others interested.
Overall I'd say I'm happy with the experience. I only use my phone a couple times a day so the lag doesn't get to me, and I appreciate Motorola's menu flow and navigation. For some reason motorola does things in a way that makes sense to me, the right mix between the menu systems of Nokia (simple but consistent) and LG (more flexible but illogical in places) phones (the 2 other brands I've used).
Buttons are A-OK, sure not as comfortable as real buttons since it's completely flat and requires pushing with the tip of my thumb and/or thumbnail, but very usable. For some reason the top row of buttons is quite a bit weaker on response and feedback, which is kinda disappointing from quality POV. Not sure if this is everyone's experience.
I'm not sure I'd qualify the music playing capabilities on par with an IPod or other MP3 player. Some things I've noticed are: popping and static between tracks, popping when pausing/resuming playback, background static when music is quiet, long gaps between tracks (no gapless playback for sure), loud buzzing sound between tracks when connected to my home stereo (I think I need to ground the receiver), and somewhat unnatural positioning of volume keys.
With that said, the audio is very clear and defined, the player interface is way more flexible than IPod (since you can manipulate multiple playlists, change EQ settings, randomize/loop on/off without going all the way to base menu), and not using iTunes is a good thing in my opinion because it feels a little too restrictive, with a single path of usage that you must conform to. f-that.
usage of wheel can be somewhat fiddly if my thumb isn't in the right position, takes a little getting used to, but it's better than repeated pressing/holding of buttons for sure. Lock slider is much appreciated, but if the phone is in my pocket I'm a little worried the up button of d-pad will be depressed (it has much lighter action than other buttons), and drain battery because the display turns on when any button is pushed.
In summary, a little rough around the edges but quite stylish AND highly functional.. if Motorola can keep pushing these designs forward I am looking forward to future revisions, i'm thankful they tried and got a good part of the way toward total integration of mp3/cellphones.
