Why are almost everybody disqualifying this fine phone (V180).This is the Phone I am about purchasing cos the specification are just okay by me but from what i read so far I feel discouraged. Do i disregard the negetive comment about the phone and purchase it or go for another Brand?

Hi.I Bought the Motorola V180...This me say this in a nice way.! The Phone ! Is a peace of SHIT$$. Not only is its the worst phone ever made it looks like a peace of crap the only reason i bought the phone was because i was with fido and i didint have the options to get a decent phone that plays mp3's.There was one other phone and i bought it and the phone was pastic and i didint like it at all.
But the Motorola V180 Save your self Money cause its crap.My screen broke on the outside cover call display screen. How i put it in my pocket and when i took it out the
ink was leaking then it started to burn and it smelled really bad.My calls got disconnected most of the time .They put a button on the outside of the phone so when u put it in your pants it changes your ring tones and it some times mutes the phone. The
Battery last about 3 hrs of hard use if that.
The phone is made of horseshit and if you drop it u pretty much cry cause u watch ur 200$ dissippear.

Dont buy that crap Motorola said they would look at it and fix it.I said screw it and went and got another phone. Its a peace of shit i lost 200 on that junk and dont buy the newer version the phones crap.

I went and bought Samsung Sgh-x497 that works with fido.Just got it the other day so
far im very impressed The sound Is 150 percent sounds awesome and its got good speakers. The screen inside it awesome so clear its beautiful very good grapixs.I heard it supports aol yahoo msn and icq chat.Theres a alot of settings so i have to check it all out.The phone feels strong and well built.I love the look for once fido made a good phone that looks good and supports mp3's It dont support camera but i mean what can ya do.Other wise im impressed with what i got wish they made it before because i would have bought it hands down.
The outside caller id window Nice and strong not cheap at all Shows alot of stuff how many pissed calls phone number battery time and i even put alittle pressure on the demo phone and it never when cracked. They put Plastic over top of the caller id window so it protects the screen well done.
If your lookin for a good phone trust me by the new samsung.Worth every penny .Somepeople said the weight of the phone is not that light but i dont mind it .The only thing i didint like was when you put it up to your ear it feels alittle werd like it dont fit ur face like most phones. But other then that im impressed.

                This is for Alan,

How did you flash your V180 to make the Cingular Sim work? We cannot get our V180's to work with our Cingular Sims and Cingular states that we have to purchase thier phones. Any suggestions?

to the solution of keypads not lighting up!!
On select handset models, the keypad back-light operation is light sensitive. There is a light sensor located underneath the bumper next to the key that acts as a switch to turn the keypad lights on. When in an area of adequate light, the keypad will not illuminate to help conserve battery power. When in an area of low light, the sensors will allow for the keypad to illuminate within a few moments of the flip being opened or a key being pressed. This is a part of the phone's design, and cannot be disabled. This function can be demonstrated by placing your hand over the bumper, *, 7, 4, and 1 keys, then pressing any uncovered button several times. This should cause the keypad lights to illuminate regardless of the amount of ambient light.

I had my v180 for about 10 months, and from day one it had problems with dropping calls... anywhere from 10 - 45 minutes and then the bars would drop down to nothing and the call would drop. After that the bars would go right back up, like it just didn't have enough power to sustain a signal. Then yesterday, the screen went black. At first I was able to fiddle with it to get it to work, but it wasn't consistent.

Its under warranty... but it will take anywhere from 14-60 days to have it fixed. I'd say steer clear of this POS, the lady at my cell office admitted they see a large amount of these phones come back for service.

I bought a v555 this morning and it looks like from the other reviews to be a pretty solid choice.

I bought two of these phones and have had them for about 3 months. My wife was always having a problem with hers cutting out and dropping calls. The phones are cheaply made. I dropped mine and the outer screen shattered. The only positive I can give this phone is that the battery life was great, but what good does a strong battery do you if the phone itself is a piece of junk. Don't waste your money. I will never buy a Motorola phone again.

I bought 3 of these phones, one for my daughter, my wife and myself. The reception is so bad my daughter has already dumped hers in the trash and bought a new phone. My reception is terrible even with the telescopic ebay antenna and "booster" installed. People I call say the phone is very noisey and not clear.
I will soon put my phone with my daughters. This is the last Moto phone I will ever own.

Sweet phone, no camera but its good enough for me. I bought it for US equivalent$120 in a small country called Guyana, I got the cable and software so I put in MP3 tones like everyday and I also got some really cool wallpapers, the space is 2.2Mb It works really well when it comes to reception, not much features but our service don’t support mobile internet so what the heck. OH my phone don’t have aol..i don’t know how come … This phone is good enough for the price. Nice and small have a slick design the mp3 rings sound very loud and clean. Good work Moto! if u need pics & tones contact me for any model! don't mind helping

I love my phone. I have had it for about a month now and never once I had a problem with it. The reason I got a new phone is because I had an LG1300 and it was a piece of crap that is why I got a new phone. If you are having problems with your phone just call the customer service line for the cell phone company you have and they should send you a new phone. That is what Cingular did for me.

I bought the V180 in November 2004. I have had one replacement phone. The problems I have experienced are: an excessive amount of dropped calls and being unable to get a signal where other phones are working and a message: "Emergency only" displaying on the screen whenever I enter a store. I cannot rely on this phone at all.

                                        I bought the V180 in October 2004.
Since then I have had 3 replacement phones. I am getting ready to have my fourth one replaced. The inside screen on the first three phones went black. Sometimes the phone would turn off by itself. Now with this fourth "refurbished" phone the on/off button has not worked since I received it in April 2005. It takes me hours on end to turn it on after it has been turned off. The battery died once and I plugged it in to recharge and the exterior screen showed nothing. It didn't say it was charging or anything. When I was finally able to turn it back on it had fully charged. I contacted my provider about this problem and they wanted to troubleshoot. That would involve turning off my phone. I said I was not willing to do that. I asked her how would they troubleshoot anything with the phone off. They know there are problems with this phone, why can't they just send me another refurbished piece of crap?

I have also been having an issue with voice mail notifications. None of the 4 V180's I've had has notified me when a voice mail has been left. I receive a notification when a text message has been sent. I am going to the store today, I'll ask one of the employees to fix it.
