but..i think my problem is the memory card (new card) of MircoSD got problem...i dont know whether is the MircoSD adapter (brand -Motorola )got problem or the small chip of MircoSD... coz my Hphone totally can't detect the memory card space..so i also can't format it.. i have used a lot of different brand card reader to try to read my MircoSD..but totally fail to detect..but i got tried to connect it using cable only, but it showed 0 byte in my memory card free space..i have search a lot of info regarding this W388 Hphone.. now, the only way that i know was i need to buy another new MircoSD to try with my new Hphone...this time, i will buy for 1GB or 2GB Kingston microSD...hope it will work sucessfully..can i ask that have you got any others idea or suggestion for my problem? thx..

Do this to format your memory card
Menu ->
Settings ->
Initial Setup ->
Format additional storage device (this option will appear if & only if a correct memory card is inserted,ie.,MicroSD)
NOTE:-- If you had used your memory card already in other phones or anywhere,,use a card reader in your system and check whether it is formatted as FAT file system.,if not do it first,,then use it in your phone.
If it's a new card,then it'll be in FAT file system only..Yesterday only I bought a memory card,it's a 2GB Kingston microSD..Works perfectly in my phone.Now I'm using my previous phones 512mb card..

my phone just showed internal free space (4000KB) & Mass storage only (4400KB)..
Beside, i cant download MP3 in the memory card which i plug it into the USB reader..it showed that i need to download a disk in drive H..what is this mean? is that memory card have the disk to install?? coz when i brought the memory card, there was no disk include..pls advise...thanks..

Hi I'm new to Motorola phones..This is 1st and best phone..I bought this beauty three days before..
Please tell me how to view the phone memory contacts only in the Contacts..My phone shows both SIM and PHONE MEMORY contacts..I want only the phone memory contacts to be displayed..
One more thing,,what is that icon next to network bar in main display..When I bought the phone it showed three lines..now it shows something different..What it is???

Nice phone,good speakers,plays mp3 well.
So sad that is has no bluetooth.
need a better camera quality.(maybe 2 megapixel possible?)

Motorola w388 was purchased by me recently . Its a gr8 set wid 0.3 mega pixel i.e. vga camera , mp3 player , fm wid recording , voice memo & usb ........ Its cost is damn cheap . It supports 2gb memory . Wid t camera u can even capture moments frm tv directly ........ This feature is called Video Capture . Mind u its not video recording its video capture . The built in gmes r xcellent so r t ringtones .......... But I would hve been pleased if it had a bluetooth or an infrared atleast but I am not dissatisfied . My money is worth paying . I shall give it a 7.5 out of 10 4r design 7 out of 10 4r features & 7 out of 10 4r performance .

I like its appearence, rea... moreyou can send sms to any number. after writing the text message, press OK, the menu will show list of contacts. press the middle button on joystick, it will show ENTER NUMBER. enter the number to which you want to send sms. Done

when i am transferring games from pc to the phone memory,it is getting saved in JAVA and not in GAMES.and if something is transferred in a folder other than the predefined folders in the phone memory,the phone does not read it.want to know the cost of 512 mb memory card for this.PLEASE HELP.

Good motorola mp3... it just arrive to my country, Argentina, so let's see this phone more in detail..
Design: 8 (Nice conservative design, it's nothing from another world but is a clean design and very nice and confortable keypad, display is passable enough for this music phone)
Features: 6 (Passable features for this music phone, it lacks many important features like bluetooth, or a better camera because it's just vga... at least 1.3mp.. display could be better in resolution and size, but is good that has a radio and setero speakers)
Performance: 5 (Standard battery, so standard battery life, standard is not impressive, just 5)

I got this cool mob jus a week back after analysing all the models in the market. I got this in motostore for 3300 along with 1 gb card free (diwali promo) - damn cheap indeed. The mobile has crammed all the features that a high end model can give u. It has MP3, Downloadable and installable java games, camera (not that gud), wallpapers and screensavers, these are its best features. Its truly a value for money. Iam not too sure about the battery charge life. This is simply rocking rocking !!!! Iam truly satisfied.

Im using Moto from long time and most of Moto handsets (SLVR series and RAZR series) show same type of miss call in received calls. If it is marked its received else its missed call. So we cannot call it cons.
Regarding second flaw I will suggest plz check when you click send to button there will be first or last in phonebook entry called "[New Number]". Here you can add new number or else click on menu button and there you can find new number. Plz check this and let me know.

I just bought my W388 yesterday. I like its appearence, really. Then I try the music (that's why I bought this cell phone). First radio... I'm glad that it has clear sound, but sadly it can only store 9 radio station.
Like I said, I bought W388 for music, so I try to connect it to my computer, unfortunatelly it always failed to connect. My computer ask for the driver, but I don't have it because I didn't receive any driver CD from Motorola.
Then I googling on the web and gladly I found what I looking for. And here it is... presented to you

W388 is not a perfect mobile phone since it has NO bluetooth, NO separated folder for misscall and most ridiculous thing is; sms can be sent to people from your contact list only. This phone DOES NOT ALLOW you to type a new no. to send other people a message.
Oh ya, despite didn't gave me the driver CD and its lacks list, Motorola gave me bonus a 2Gb Micro SD card external memory, FREE! Thank you MOTO.
Over all, it's not a perfect mobile phone. but it's a GREAT MUSIC PHONE for it price, try your self. Haha!!!

I bought this phone for Rs 3700 at a store in Mumbai on 14th October 2008. Rs 3250 for the phone+ Rs 250 for a 1 gb memory card. I chose this phone bcoz I needed expandable memory and mp3 player at a price range of 3500.
Pros—more features at comparatively low price (sony and nokia wud give u these features at minimum Rs 4000- 4500.)
• Looks decent for its price. other brand phones at this price tag don’t look as good.
• Decent battery life for medium usage(playing music for total 4 hrs etc in a day)
Cons—sms can be sent to people from your contact list only. Seems so stupid but its true. This phone does not allow you to type a new no. to send other people a message.
• It takes time to get used to the itap sms system in this phone. It is different fromn the t9 system in nokia and sony phones
• There is no separate folder for missed calls. In received call list if the no is not tick marked then it implies that was a missed call.
• The mp3 player interface could have been better (I was using a sony ericsson w200i before this—its interface was much better and earphones were top class.) moto w388 cant match it.
Overall, go for sony ericsson w200 or nokia 3110(has Bluetooth) if u can spend 4500. moto w388 is best buy at this price. Moto w270 does not support mp3 ringtones

I have been using Moto SLVR L7 over long time and want second backup phone. I really trust Moto in terms of Build Quality and Value for Money. I have few questions Regarding W388 in my mind -
* Can I manage my Contacts through PC?
* Battery charging with USB cable works?
* Does Memory Card act like Removable Storage when connected through USB?
* Does it play smoothly with 2 GB Micro SD card? Or goes little slow?
Those who have experienced this please reply.
