I have very bad things to say about this phone, We bought 3 e313 phones and have had one returned once and another one returned twice and the third one need to be returned. I was in the three store today and there were 3 other customers that where not happy at all and none of us got any satisfaction. When i purchased the phones they were new but I am told everytime you have a problem with the phone your sent a refurbished phone not a new one until the third time. This is very bad business and i woundnt recomment them to anyone so all up we have had 7 phones and not one has worked effectively. The phones freeze all the time. When you call someone says its connected but cant hear anyone so i am paying for the call that is not even working ect

How to unlock your 3 e313 phone,
Put your new sim into the phone. (see note at bottom)
If you type *#5830# on your phone it shows all the unlocking codes VERY BRIEFLY.
This will pop up for a fraction of a second, so be ready to memorize one set (8 digits, 4 sets displayed)
Write it down and use it in the _____ area below.
Now enter #4960*_____# , nothing happens but thats how it should be.
Now enter *4960*_____*_____# and it'll say "simlock on". Its now locked to the simcard thats in the phone.
Switch it off, then back on again.
All done
p.s. I have had problems with phones when the 3 sim card has been put into the phone.
It reports unlocked and locked. but doesnt allow the sim to be used.
make sure your sim is not password locked before doing this too.
I have used e313's on t-mobile, virgin and vodafone to date (over the last week).
Although the one-2-one (t-mobile) was a bit tricky as it initially displayed the NEC logo and stopped.
No U-sim error message

This phone is extremely reliable. The number of times I've dropped it and it still works like new. In Tokyo, you gotta be fast and this is the phone for me as when I'm walking at it frops, even real hard, still works like new and only suffers minor scratches, anyone else noticed how it's durable against hard use too?

hey my parents got me this fone yesterday and i think its brilliant! i have the E313, and we are debating where to get the USB cable from, i have taken Jacks advice on going to get one from superdrug for a tenner. the only thing is where to get the software... again, jack suggests a website that he has put on here, but it doesnt work in my browser... if someone could tell me where to go to get to that site i would be very grateful!

I am still wondering what to do with the miserable selection of useless downloads from 3G. The NEC E313 would be more useful if I could get a data cable for it

This phone is wicked.
PLEASE READ: if you have an NEC e313 and you need the data cable software do not buy it. Go on to this very long link below and get the software FREE download the USB drivers first then the PC Transfer Utility. Heres the link:

After you have downloaded the software buy a £10 data cable from Superdrug

I wrote recently (18/7) with praise for the nec e323.After a few days to play with it and gather more info of the net (plenty available)my opinion has changed. I have never been so disgusted with anyone as i am with "3" they have taken a very good phone and disabled or nobled most of its best features. No proper web access, file size limit from pc (5mb)and locking the phone to a poor service that frequently cant connect. I will not be putting any more credit in it. 3 are going bust and as far as im concerned the sooner the better. Vodafone are prob taking it over or at least have made an offer.

128MB memory stik duo $59.95
(£32.75) from http://www.mobileplanet.com/product.asp?cat_id=106&cat_name=Memory+%26+Storage&dept_id=1447&pf_id=MP240140&listing=1&bs_id=MP240140
usb data cable + software £12.95 from http://www.activemobiles.com/nec_n8_datacables.htm
memory cost more than phone and roughly 50% on top of what simmlar capacity compact flash card would cost. You also need a card reader in your PC or an external one. That thirty quid phone is going to cost you around seventy-five smackers.

Hmm this phone is actually one of those corporate gangrape of da public things..
I bought for not much at da carphone warehouse only to find they hadn't included a USB wire ... which I presumed in my naivety to be naturally part of the package......otherwise it is a bit cumbersome but okie .. would give it a 4/10 as compared to the equivalent Sharp and Motorolla phones, which are a bit better.
