Samsung set to unveil artificial human Neon at CES 2020

South Korean tech giant Samsung announced its AI-powered digital assistant Bixby back in March 2017. It first came pre-loaded on the Galaxy S8, but later made its way to a long list of smartphones and home appliances.

More than two years later, the company is all set to unveil its new AI-powered product, dubbed Neon, at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2020 next month.

Neon is developed by Samsung Technology and Advanced Research Lab (STAR Labs), with Pranav Mistry at the helm as the President and CEO of the unit. Mistry is best known for his work on SixthSense and Galaxy Gear and has previously served as the Global Vice President at Samsung.

Details are scarce about Neon right now and since many thought it to be an advanced version of Bixby, the company had to clarify that "NEON is NOT about Bixby".

In fact, going by the teasers posted on the official site and social media handles, Neon appears to be an AI-powered digital human that will replicate the emotions and intelligence of us real humans. The company even made Facebook and Twitter posts saying "NEON = ARTIFICIAL HUMAN".

At this point, it's difficult to say what exactly Neon is, but Samsung posted a few images on Twitter with the question "Have you ever met an 'ARTIFICIAL'?" in five different languages, including English, which hints Neon will be able to interact with users in multiple languages.

CES is just 10 days away and we hope Samsung and Mistry will reveal more information about Neon in the days leading to the official unveiling.
