New Google Drive update ends support for Android 4.0, brings other changes

Himanshu, 24 August, 2016

Google has rolled out a new update to Drive's Android app. If your Android device still runs Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0), there's some bad news: the Drive app on your device will no longer receive any updates.

"This is the last supported release of Drive for Android on all Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) devices," the change-log says. "Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) users will receive no further updates to Drive on Android."

As for other changes, now you can easily upgrade your storage plan in-app, add home screen shortcuts to your favorite files, and receive comment notifications. Finally, the update also includes some performance-related improvements and general bug fixes.

At least it runs on Android 4.0 from 2011, the Google drive app on the app store requires iOS 8 from 2014

That's why i hate iOS, basically make my iPod Touch a pain to use. So basically it's just a music device for me now.
