Earlier today Huawei launched P60 Pro and Mate X3 in Europe, but the company’s summer is just getting started. On May 18 (Thursday next week) it will unveil a new MatePad model, a new smartwatch and other new gadgets at an event in China.

The official post on Weibo left out the name of the new slate, but the rumor mill speculates that it will be called the Huawei MatePad Air. A few models have already been certified: Wi-Fi only (DBY2-W00) and 4G-enabled (DBY2-AL00 and DBY2Z-AL00).

According to Chinese publication ITHome, the tablet will be powered by a Snapdragon 888 chipset and an 8,200mAh battery with 40W charging. The price should be between the MatePad 11 (2023) (CNY 2,200) and the MatePad Pro 11 (2022) (CNY 3,500). These details haven’t been confirmed yet, but we expect to see relevant teasers over the next few days.

The Summer Product Launch event on the 18th is also expected to feature the new Huawei Watch 4 series, as well as the new MateBook laptops. That’s for next week, today the focus was on the Euro launch of the P60 Pro and Mate X3.
