New phones of the week

Vince, 17 April, 2016

This week saw some quite interesting additions to our smartphone database and most of them boast a flagship status. Here's a quick recap in case you've missed any of them. HTC 10 and HTC 10 Lifestyle. Meizu finally revealed the highly anticipated PRO 6, while Micromax has the Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro E484 to pride itself with.

Naturally, let's start with the star of the week - the HTC 10 is the company's flagship for 2016, while the HTC 10 Lifestyle is a toned down version. Thet both offer a 5.2" Super LCD 5 of QHD resolution (1,440 x 2,560px) with a curved edge Gorilla Glass. The 10 launches with Android 6.0 Marshmallow on a Snapdragon 820 chipset with 4GB of RAM.

Some regions might get the HTC 10 Lifestyle instead. It has a Snapdragon 652 chipset, 3GB of RAM, slightly slower LTE and a single 32GB storage option. The Lifestyle should be more competitively priced, though.

In a surprising move Meizu went down in size with the PRO 5 successor. The Meizu PRO 6 packs a 5.2" Super AMOLED of 1080p resolution and 3D Press, Meizu's alternative to 3D Touch.

The Meizu PRO 6 is powered by MediaTek Helio X25 chipset - the 10-core processor and Mali-T880 GPU have been overclocked from the X20. You get 4GB of RAM too (so much for the rumored 6GB).

Finally, Micromax released the Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro E484. Both share a 5.5" IPS LCD of 1080p resolution, a Mediatek Helio X10 chipset and a 13MP camera at the back. The Canvas 6 Pro packs 4GB of RAM, but just 16GB of internal storage, whereas the Canvas 6 has 3GB of RAM, but 32GB of internal storage.
