New press renders of the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 and Droid Maxx 2 surface online

Victor, 24 October, 2015

A fresh new pair of Motorola DROID devices is coming to Verizon, no doubt about it. The unveiling event for the Droid Turbo 2 and Droid Maxx 2 is already set for October 27 and the pair is generating a lot of attention.

Both models have already been featured in quite a few leaks, so we are now fairly certain about their appearance and specs sheets. Twitter's @Evleaks has been a fruitful source of info on the new Droids, most recently with a high-res render of the phones in a few color options.

The images look official, come from a reputable source and do coincide with a lot of what we have previously seen, as far as color options go. The first three handset from left to right are Droid Turbo 2 models, complete with a Verizon logo on the front and a Droid one on the back. The last two renders are of the Droid Maxx 2, with a clean front and both aforementioned logos placed on the back.

As for the color options, it is clear that both phones will have a black and a white front, coupled with different back panels – a typical Motorola setup. The Droid Turbo 2 is shown here with three covers, two with a texturized back and the last – a smooth one. A recently leaked info sheet, however, also shows a fourth option. The said brochure is sadly black and white, but there does appear to be another black option, possible a smooth one.

As for the Droid Maxx 2, we have already seen a few close-up shots of it, rocking a blue attire, just like the last unit from the new render. The white option seems like a natural addition to the mix. Still, it is good to note that Motorola usually spoils the user as far as customization options go and another recent leak does show a much richer array of cover options for the Droid Turbo 2.

As for the specs on both phones, as far as we currently know the Maxx 2 will be a mid-range offer, quite similar to the Moto X Play. It will be equipped a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 615 SoC, 2GB of RAM and a 21MP camera. The Droid Turbo, on the other hand, should be a flagship-model and run on a Snapdragon 810 chip with a QHD display.
