New vivo X Flip mockup reveals details about the cover display

The vivo X Flip is expected to become the next clamshell foldable smartphone, with a launch scheduled for this quarter. Earlier reports suggested the external screen will be a rectangle, placed vertically under the camera island, and today a new schematic reveals more details.

The phone will follow the design language of the X90 series, with the sliver of aluminum, which will be the hinge in the X Flip case. The external screen will be 682 pixels wide, and the cameras will be only two, with enough room for the ZEISS branding.

The inner screen will be 1080 pixels wide, which is somewhat expected - Samsung, Oppo, and Motorola all have Full HD+ panels on their flip foldables as well, with only Huawei offering slightly bigger screens with higher ppi density.

The volume rocker is pictured on the right-hand side, with the power key below visibly leveled with the side, meaning it will host a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The dual camera setup is also barely a surprise. While having more cameras sounds nice in theory, it would significantly reduce sensor size and will ultimately deteriorate camera performance for most scenarios.

That metal plating on the X90 series would fit better on this phone tbh...
