3GSM World Congress 2007 summary

19 Feb, 2007

Well, the 3GSM 2007 congress is over and we can sigh with relief as we finally finished our detailed article on the event coverage. We added a lot of new content in the last 24 hours so if you haven’t checked it out lately, don’t hesitate to do so. It’s been a hectic week but the Barcelona weather and lively streets made it easier for us.

The hands-on experience with some of the greatest mobiles to come out this year has certainly been a pleasure for us. It seemed that the GPS, DVB-H functionality and HSDPA will be the trend this year although they are not that widely popular. Every manufacturer had at least one handset that won our hearts so it’s a bit hard to select our single most favorite mobile of them all. So instead we decided to present you with the highlights of the show the way we saw them.

Nokia released the long awaited Nokia E90 Communicator, Samsung are trying again for the record with their Ultra II lineup, while the Motorola went completely out-of-the-box with their innovative slider Motorola RIZR Z8. The LG Prada phone was no less than a real eye-catcher. Sony Ericsson presented the slim Sony Ericsson W880 Walkman, which we have already reviewed in detail, plus their latest cameraphone the Sony Ericsson K810. i-mate will be taking the Pocket PC market by storm as soon as their new Ultimate devices are ready for shipping. Sharp and Toshiba also managed to surprise us with nice handsets - the Mclaren Mercedes series and the Toshiba G900 with an innovative fingerprint scanner navigation. BlackBerry finally integrated a GPS receiver into their product lineup and came out with the BlackBerry 8800. Alcatel managed to show that they still have what it takes to fight with the larger fish in the pool with their budget fashionable handsets, while HP, Gigabyte and Benefon expanded their product lines with some really nice additions that also deserve your attention.

Didnt get you Cezar. You cant have review of all the prototypes on the show. Evereyone including GSMarena did cover all the models. It's highlights. Review will follow. In that case I think GSMarena did pretty well.
