Galaxy Buds3 Pro will have "Blade Lights", vanilla Buds3 are getting IP57

Peter, 06 June 2024

While they are likely to stay in the background during the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, overshadowed by the new foldables and the Galaxy Ring, the new Galaxy Buds deserve some attention. The Buds2 Pro are from mid-2022 and the regular Buds2 are even older, having originally launched in 2021.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro are bringing important upgrades, some of which leaked out. For starters, the vanilla model will go up to an IP57 dust and water resistance rating, its predecessor only had IP52.

The Buds3 will still use single speakers per bud. They will support high quality audio (24-bit, 96kHz) and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). With it enabled, they should offer the same battery life as the 2021 buds, i.e. 5 hours.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro will be the premium offering with 2-way speakers. They will have better battery life than the vanilla model and the old Buds2 Pro, lasting up to 6 hours.

Samsung has beefed up the charging case for both – the total listening time is up to 24 hours for the vanilla model and up to 30 hours for the Pro (up from 20 hours and 23 hours, respectively, for the Buds2 series). This appears to be due to increased efficiency as the Buds3 Pro case will have the same battery capacity as the Buds2 Pro case.

Here’s something interesting – the Galaxy Buds3 Pro will have “Blade Lights”. What’s that? No clue, but the regular Buds3 don’t have them. Is Samsung about to spice things up with some RGB or do these have a different use? We will keep our ears to the ground for more details before the official announcement.

The Pro buds will also have Adaptive Noise Control and Ambient Sound, which will automatically balance how much or how little you hear from your surroundings. The vanilla model will have neither. Both versions will support Bluetooth 5.3 with Auto Switch and SmartThings Find.

Finally, the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro are coming in Silver and White, though we can’t imagine that Samsung won’t eventually expand the color palette with more choices. There’s no word on pricing yet, but the Buds2 Pro were $230/€230/£220 at launch, the Buds2 were $150/€150/£140.

Thanks for the review :) I think I'll wait for the upcoming Unpacked and then decide on the FE or Buds3 series. The FE should also get cheaper when the new buds are announced 👌

I had the same though about FE, that it wasn't supported. And the update proved me wrong, I'm happy to be able to control them remorly like I do on my phone because they're very good, especially considering the price (79 now) Just ...

Last time I checked it oddly wasn't available for my laptop (exclusive to Galaxy Books) but now I can download it and try if it works 👌 Thanks 🙏
