HMD Pulse Pro might be launching this week

Vlad, 23 April 2024

HMD Global recently announced that it would start making smartphones under its own brand following many years of releases under the Nokia brand. One of, if not the first HMD-branded smartphone, will be the Pulse Pro, which leaked last month. Back then we thought it would land in July, but it turns out it could arrive way sooner than that - this week, in fact.

That is according to a now taken down listing by Finnish retailer Gigantti, which had the phone up with specs and pricing too - €179. Not just that, but the listing also had a release date: April 24. That's this Wednesday.

The listing was clearly put up too soon by mistake, but it's unclear if the release date was accurate or not - we'll find out soon enough. Anyway, the listing confirmed the phone's specs.

The HMD Pulse Pro will have a 6.56-inch 720x1480 IPS LCD screen with HD+ resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate. It will be powered by the Unisoc T606 SoC, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. The battery capacity will be 5,000 mAh, and the phone will have a 50 MP main rear camera, a 2 MP depth sensor, and a 50 MP front-facing camera. The fingerprint sensor is side-mounted, embedded in the power button.

It will run Android, of course, but unfortunately the listing wasn't more specific. So we're hoping it's Android 14. HMD's update promise is two major Android updates and three years of security updates.

The Pulse Pro measures 163.19 x 75.02 x 8.55 mm and weighs 196g. It's IP52 certified for dust and splash resistance. The brand also boasts that the handset is easy to open for repairs. The Pulse Pro will be joined by the recently leaked Pulse at some point.

These look like very decent specifications, for a phone made in 2018/2019.
