Huawei Mate Xs sales start on March 5

Yordan, 26 February 2020

Huawei introduced its updated Mate Xs foldable smartphone at a press conference on Monday. The device comes with an updated chipset and 5G support, a new more robust hinge and the latest EMUI 10, but carries a heftier price tag as well.

When Richard Yu introduced the phone, he said it will be available for sale next month, but gave few details beyond that. Now we get a bit of extra info and unsurprisingly China will be the first country where the Huawei Mate Xs will be available with sales scheduled to open on March 5.

Huawei Mate Xs arrives for sale on March 5

The Mate Xs keeps most of the neat features its predecessor had - 55W fast charging, four cameras, 8” unfolded screen that goes into a dual-display device once folded. It lacks Google Services, which would explain why it's going to be a hard sell in the west, but Huawei is working on building its alternatives and if it progresses enough it might just bring the Mate Xs outside its homeland.

The price on the global scene is €2,499, however, in China, it is CNY16,999, which is about €2,225/$2,400.

Pre-registrations for the 8/512 GB phone are already live on Huawei’s website and at Vmall.com, and we expect the device to sell out, given the impressive performance of the Mate X at the end of 2019.
