Battlecruiser Operational. You will soon be able to hear the phrase in reprocessed 44,100 Hz format while playing the StarCraft Remastered - the good old StarCraft game with updated 4K graphics. It will be available on August 14 for $14.99/£12.99.

The 1998 game comes with completely revamped graphics of the units, the buildings, and the effects. SC:R looks new while the gameplay still has that classic StarCraft feeling.

Blizzard confirmed the developers have no intention of changing the gameplay whatsoever. They only want to “blend classic with modern”, said Pete Stilwell, Blizzard Classic Games Producer.

Work on the project started 18 months ago, Blizzard team confirmed. First, they had to gather most of the code. Voice recordings were also troublesome until a member of the sound team found backups of the original audio, and now it is being remastered as well.

The game comes with some upgrades. Now the F5 key is the default for “make game look old” that will immediately switch the graphics to the classic 640 x 480 resolution and back. The F7 is for turning on and off a combination of real-time lighting and environmental effects. For example, toggling them will give heat waves on the lava.

The Remastered version comes in 16:9 resolution instead of the original 4:3 with support up to 21:9.
