Xiaomi Poco Pad in for review

The Xiaomi Poco Pad is the company's first Poco-branded tablet and it came out alongside the Poco F6 duo. It's almost identical to the Redmi Pad Pro that came out more than a month ago, sharing the majority of its hardware.

The tablet is built around a nice IPS LCD panel with 120Hz refresh rate and 12-bit color depth. It measures 12.1" in diagonal and has a high 1,600 x 2,560px resolution at a 16:10 aspect ratio. The manufacturer lists the panel as Dolby Vision-capable, but that seems a bit far-fetched given the LCD's technology constraints. Either way, we will make sure to examine the screen's performance in the full review.

A recent Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset will drive all those pixels - a rare occurrence among budget tablets. They tend to employ older hardware, but the SD7s Gen 2 seems like a promising SoC in this price bracket.

While the Redmi Pad Pro offers three memory configurations, the Poco Pad comes in just one, but at least it's fairly generous. The tablet has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of expandable storage by default.

The camera system is pretty simple, as you'd expect - an 8MP main camera on the back and another 8MP unit on the front. They should be enough for scanning documents and video calls.

In addition to the big and vivid display, Xiaomi has included a set of four stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos tuning.

The Poco Pad is powered by a huge 10,000 mAh battery with 33W charging support and it boots Xiaomi's latest HyperOS.

The device also supports an external Poco Pad Keyboard and Poco Smart Pen, which we'll test as well. Stay tuned for our full review of Poco's first tablet.
