Anonymous, 26 Oct 2014Flagship phones from other brands also command high prices.... moreActually (in many regions) you can blame the emphasis Apple put on storage capacity and (following Apples own logic and) given how they price their iPhones by storage capacity that's not a "myth" at all.

It's quite common to find that a 16GB iPhone is priced several euros above 32GB or 64GB Android flagships.

Obviously that's not the full picture, but then again should we talk about the "lock-in" of accessories (proprietary connectors with licensing), software (let it be phone apps or connection software to the computer) and even technologies then you pretty much see why Apple is just after your through any means necessary.

I work at an office Supply chain and we were forced by corporate to ensure our registers were ready for Apply Pay. Our registers also support Pay Wave and Pay Pal, but we rarely can get it to work. And big surprise, we can't get Apple Pay to work through our registers either.

This argument is rather weak and only repeated by the most hardened of Apple haters. The rest of the world has moved on, with people enjoying their smartphones regardless of platform, iOS, Android, Windows or even Blackberry.

Fanboyism in this particular issue is actually stupid, as that would be wishing for a monopoly in payment systems. It is actually more in our favour to have tight competition in this particular field, resulting in lower margins and better services for the end user, namely us.

They are launching next year, and some of those retailers blocking NFC for Apple Pay are doing so, because they hope to use this platform.

                    Proud owner of Android but,

we need apple too for paving the way to "phone wallet".

Yes together it will get rid of plastic and paper money.

And about making it all about them, I find that remark ironic, since it is the Android crowd that always talk about their dominant market share. Isn't that the very definition of 'making it all about them?'

And why are you so worried if Apple introduces fixed sims or not?

I use Apple products, but if I don't like fixed sims and they introduce it, I'll buy something else. I don't seem to remember it being compulsory to buy. The market knows how to reward or punish companies, you don't really have to spend day and night worrying about it.

In many places of Europe, should you pay something with your "triple platinum" card it is more likely than not that the shop keeper will look at you in the fashion of "so you had to pay this with credit, I also feel your pain -- the economy is bad for everyone".

Apple are not installing one piece of hardware

Apple are only in it for the money as APPLE will receive 15c per $100 spent but these fast food will stil have pay the banks the standard high cost transaction fee.

A relatively small sale cost a lot ans when you see the NIL FEE for cash

Apple did not even disguise yge fact it is a money stream ehteelse would you incorporate the only NFC profile that supports Apple Pay and DISABLE all the other NFC profiles from the iPhone6 ..

I guess sharing is not for everybody.

Apple pay requires a credit card to work,
Credit card do not need Apple or I'm guessing here a need to be recharged each night

Google Wallet to me is more convenient than apple pay. I don;t like using passwords to unlock my phone and apple pay forces that. I think NFC payment is a gimmick but it is sure as hell convenient when you leave your wallet at home.
