Nokia 3720 is ready to replace golf and rugby balls

07 July, 2009
The still unannounced rugged Nokia 3720 was shown off on several official teaser videos, where some guys do all they can to break it. They play golf and kick it rugby style, but the robust 3720 got away unscratched...

Really can't see this doing much different to what's already out there, but if it really can take a true beating then hats off, if it can't, well... You know marketers...

Let's see one after 3 months with a concreter, those guys usually buy the cheapest phone's and throw them away after a couple of months.

The 5500 was the last Nokia "durable" phone, the keypads kept falling apart, let's hope they do better with this one.

I think these were the toughest phones ever made:-

Odd videos. He didn't wack the phone very hard with the golfclub did he. He spent very little time in the pool and the phone was in a pocket for a few seconds.

They're always putting their hands in their pockets for some reason. Is there some slight of hand taking place.

That screen was cracked, so the criterion was that "It worked".

watcher, 08 Jul 2009guys, in the golf-club test, the LCD seemed a little.. brok... moreYep, the outer screen of the display definitely looks broken. But I think that wasn't the point.

The guy only asked if the phone was still "working". Well, technically yes... but what good is a broken screen.

so sad, nokia just copy cats other mobile design, like 5800 Xpressmusic to replace iPhone but failed, now wan't to be Casio Gzone's rival

some newbies think they're very professional in mobile phone
think it is impossible to do so

don't mix NOKIA phone with sam/se/lg

                        this is NOKIA not sam/se/lg

i believe this phone can take it all
                        just like the 3310

why it is impossible to do so when the 3310 can take it all??

I think the test is purely marketing material. In a real environment the phone would probably get busted really quick.

Fisrtly, I cant wait till this phone comes out. Its what Ive been waiting for!
The s40 is much more suitable rather than s60, s40 will be quick and good at what it does best.
Im a builder and need a tough phone which I can put in my nailbag and carry around, use the phone in rain, take a few small knocks and resist dust.
Personally, I dont think it matters if the phone can be hit with a golf club, fall from the high end of a ladder or recover after being doused in water.
What matters to me is ease of use, funcionality and good solid features such as:
A good calculator (I use it very frequently and found the one on samsung b2700 to be the best)
A loud loudspeaker (For when Im driving or so i can hear the phone on a jobsite)
GPS (All those times i forgot to take the street maps with me)
A keypad which has good feedback
