thecalmcritic, 29 Oct 2014"Despite being so thin, the Oppo R5 packs a 2,000mAh L... moreWhat you are forgetting is that its AMOLED screen and not a high end chipset like in the Nexus which had a more power hungry and less efficient chipset. Its a matter of change in tech that makes a battery ill-suited to the device. An example would be like this. I have a Note 4 and I have not put it on a charger for coming on 1d14h with 3h10m of screen on time and im on 18% battery with an expected 2h55m left and I run my screen at nothing but full brightness.

This is a high end Chipset, 2.5k screen and its also AMOLED but larger at 5.7". The note 4 has a 3220mAh battery, effectively 1/3 more capacity if were not going to be to specific. Take into account a reduction in specs, screen res and CPU power draw, this device will have a respectable on time and I believe that if they are carful with the software, this device will manage a similar amount of battery life. Don't be too quick to judge based on just one figure.

Regarding the 3.5mm jack, there are other options like the 2.5mm jack with a short adaptor cable, if you want thin then you will except that this kind of aid is part of the deal, if you want a 3.5mm jack then you are in the wrong market or have unrealistic demands of a device.

While trying to achieve the milestone for thinnest phone, they ( silly designers at Oppo ) completely forgot about battery and length of it. Both of the later 2 matter alot to me then the thickness of a phone. I don't remember buying a single smartphone based solely on its thinness. Really!

Chinese phone racing on thinnest phone. Samsung racing for being variety model and apple racing for being highest price. Ok they are just a phone.

This is thin in a more innovative and creative way, if it doesn't bend in the pocket, then this is up yours to apple

MrGrumpy, 29 Oct 2014No 3.5mm socket? This is dead in the water before it's even... moreThat's how it was for some back in the old days. I had a Sony Ericsson Walkman phone once that needed a proprietary dongle to connect a standard headphone jack to it's recharge and data port. Would be sad to see that come back, but not surprising given phone companies habbits.

"Despite being so thin, the Oppo R5 packs a 2,000mAh Li-Polymer battery,"

This is precisely why I think "smartphone users" who demand thinness are actually complete idiots when they can't understand the balance with current technologies.

I won't touch a phone with a batt this size even if it's a gift.

Best be careful and NOT use it it to prepare stir fry.

There will come a point when phones are just too thin (and will be overcooked compared to other vegetables) to be a viable product

I think that now it is just to get in the record books to have released the thinnest COMMERCIALLY available phone and not be a flagship phone

4 .85 includes the camera bump, the phone is less than 50% of the SGS 2 and being so thin makes the iPhone6 plus look supremely tough

It may be thin but it easily beats the specs of the mid range iPhone6 +

Then again, they could either go to proprietary connectors, Bluetooth only or the smallest jack plugs around (2.5mm)
