Pinku, 04 Nov 2014Now windows become on the top of mobile OS lineall professional desktop softwares are on windows for best performance (Video/sound/picture editing like adobe series corel etc, engineering like autodesk series,...)
everything even gaming, & apple has nothing to say
no professional use out of an apple desktop is coming ever, just listening to music & reading books.
no one would be editing with adobe premier on am mac Huh or using AD AC Civil 3d on it Huh,
so when it comes to performance nothing matches windows.
even when benchmarking everything is on windows ONLY cause it doesn't even matter how they perform on other OS.
the only reason that windows on mobiles are not that great yet is about the number of apps,
let the windows 10 come out & that would be taken care of.

they really missed an opportunity by not giving the L830 an SD 80x and the "Hey Cortana" feature. The Icon was only ever offered on one carrier, and is now EOL'd.

When Microsoft is making a phone, they leave some camera glitches, just to make a huge "update" in future out of it. Microsoft, you are not buying me with this cr@p. So what are the improvements? This year? Wow...

Vivek, 04 Nov 2014But Microsoft cannot fix the Wi-Fi authentication username ... moreI've never had a problem with that. At hotels, I connect via the Wi-Fi app, then it says something like "Attention Required: Tap to open Internet Explorer." Tapping that opens the browser and I can enter credentials. What are you experiencing instead? What version OS and phone are you using?

SohailZafar, 04 Nov 2014~MY THOUGHTS WINDOWS PHONE 8.1~
Having using using Microso... moreWelcome to WP! Here are a few tips I can suggest without further research.
1. Settings. The fact that you manage people from the people hub is very intuitive. Sorry you disagree. It should also be available from the settings to make it easier for someone looking there, I suppose, but since there are no contact options there, it seems intuitive to leave that area and go straight to the People hub. IMHO. Perhaps during phone setup, it should offer new users to copy from SIM and also instruct to go to the People hub.
2. If you're in the phone history, then it will dial the number last referenced, and it DOES tell you which number (Home, Mobile, etc.; it's right under the name). In addition to that, you can dial any contact's phone via the contact itself. If you're in the phone history list, you can access the Contact via the Contact card icon to the right of each entry in that history list.
3. I agree regarding mobile data as an example. To workaround: I added Airplane Mode. Then, I can turn that on followed by Wi-Fi to get back to the Net. This workaround won't work if you use Bluetooth however.
As for the apps, yes there are limitations because publishers are lazy and focus on the majority rather than all of their customers. In the interim, investigate these options for the apps you mentioned: Google maps: GMAPS
YouTube: METROTUBE (way better than what YouTube can provide, including caching).
Hope something in my post can help your migration.

Matthew, 04 Nov 2014Microsoft cant do anything regarding the Google Apps. Its G... moreI know that many (most) of the windows apps are dire
Some of the Android apps are also also poor
To get round this as it CAN BE DONE on Android phonmes but not on windows, is allow bookmarks to be added to the home page
Once you can "pin" a url to the home page it acts like it would on a desktop and the icon is displayed, so acts like an app.
eg www.google.com on my Andriod phone I can pin it to the home page and Gooles "G" is displayed
Windows NEEDS folders which can have say 5 apps (pinned to home page) as my bookmark pages are cluttered from URL which are only beta app

There are all these great cameras that have built in wifi/nfc and yet we cannot use them with Windows Phones. This is short-sighted. At least supply OTG usb support if they can't transfer them via wifi.
