why LG? they don't even have sales. Nokia should have been the one. too bad nokia is busy launching new symbian handsets

Well this is all a matter of opinion but I find that Samsung and LG are the phone companies that have the broadest range of phone designs in their portfolio. You may not like all their phones but they do have some desireable phones.
I have historically loved Samsung's menu as easy to understand, regardless of being boring, and hated LG's menu. But I hear good things about the S-Class UI.

While I think its fantastic that LG is holding the competition, you must realize it was put on as a way for people to accept the LG numeric keypad of their flip phones as an efficient and valid way to type messages. Unfortunately the whole concept is flawed. Numeric keypad letter typing needs to die. It is an archaic and poor user interface that needs to be dumped asap.

Being a popular seller (chocolate phones) doesnt mean it was a good phone by any means. It simply means there was enough people that could afford it and it was marketed well. The Ford Taurus/Mercury Tempo were "popular" vehicles yet that didn't make them a 'good' car. Same thing applies to the 'chocolate' phone line. Sometimes the product is just popular because the people don't know there is better and the garbage they are buying is still an upgrade to the last hunk of junk they were used to using.
Not a knock against the purchasers/users, just simple statement of how people perceive things. More often than not, the 'suckers' of the world are simply people that have a faulty perception of the value they are getting from the product they buy. :)

Rip, 14 Jul 2009Instead of conducting dumb and silly competitions LG should... moreare u serious??? are u talking about the same company that designed chocolate, one of the best sold phones ever??? or the one that designed crystal, one of the "hottest" phones out there??? or about the inventors of the "s-class ui", if we`re steel talking about design??? it`s a great think what LG is doing.they`re not the best, but they are one of the best. a company that should change something is samsung, in there menu, cause it`s the same crapy and boring menu for years now. or apple, cause it`s the same medium performance in they`re phone that was years ago.

And the article says fast and accurate, you only have to tap anywhere on the screen thats close to the letter you want to press and it guesses correctly.

Still does not add up...
13 countries + India + US and Canada = 16 countries
10k USD x 15 countries = 160k USD
160k + 100k (final prize) = 260k USD.
260k is still far away from 1M.
Either the Indian prize is well below average, or some other countries are missing.
- I am not a very good SMSer anyway... so it doesn't matter that much! :))

Well isn't this fun. Specially if they use LG phones "dumb assumption, but u never know". This will be big comedy cause LG phones can quite laggy when texting or writing something.

The article says "$1M to the fastest texters" not "fastest texter", don't say this article is misleading
