Its not because of user satisfaction. Its because of fanboyism. Whoever buys Sony defend it very religiously.
Not saying Sony phones are bad though.

From the press release it sounds like this has newer functions and therefore might be better than IMX240 which is already in Note 4. Then again IMX240 has slightly larger photo pixels.

I kinda do notice that trend about SONY when it comes to imaging on smartphones.
If the same sensor is used in other smartphone brands, it seems to be fine, but with SONY, it's like a little bit on the sidelines ... I wonder if it's part of an agreement or deal when selling this parts.
Anyway, back on the sensor, I wonder how it stack quality wise against ... Let's say, ZEISS?

Hmm
"In fact, the IMX230 sports 192-point autofocus, which is impressive considering its predecessor packs 172 AF points"
is 192 really "impressive" compared to 172?
And sensor are still VERY small for that many pixels.
Unless they put a F1.7 lens in front it is going to violate the Rayleigh limit... And F1.7 are not very likely...

Only thing they do is to improve only camera from z1(quality sucks)improves on z2(Slight better)to z3(nice camera). While the performance is still a Sh*teven with a 3gb ram and only 0.1 or 0.2 increase in cpu doesn't make it the best.Sony has not bring anything on table except that crap ip68 certification again and again and 6 months flagship policy a total Flop !!!!!!!

Samsung are rubbing their hands at the sight of this new sensor/module.... will no doubt be in the s6 and will work much better then sonys own phone! not sure why that is but sony seem to struggle with their own algorithm and setup maybe this time they get it right though.
