A bug in manafacturers software is just a way that AT&T has described the lack of some of its own bloatware on the device. Google has obviously tried to keep a part of the AT&T bloatware (like bootup animation) out of their device. And AT&T were upset with that and decided to announce that there is a bug in the device. Of course Motorola can't defend themselves because they were the one who broke the bloatware agreement between the two.
But keep in mind that your average 'Merican would fail to look past the headline of the news and AT&Ts reputation will therefore be unaffected.

This is a google device, the company that brought you 6-day week calendar, with only a few devices showing blaxk screen and not connecting to network i say they nade remarkable progress, so big that maybe in 2 years they will make the battery last more than 4-5 hours.
Really gotta love advertising companies trying to make phones, its comedy with the display of utter incompetence, what dont they do just to push a few more intrusive ads... dont be evil, be stupid.

I had to buy my Note 4 from T-Mobile because the international version doesn't support T-Mobile's LTE bands. Just proof blanket statements like that are completely invalid. Until this point I always bought unlocked phones but had no choice.

It pains me to read hateful comments about Motorola just because a certain carrier is useless and upset with their bloatware not working properly on the new Nexus 6. It has absolutely nothing to do with the operating system or the phone itself.
I do think that Motorola makes one of the best built handsets these days. They don't use fancy materials and glittery gold colours to attract customers that think of their phone as a fashion accessory and as a bragging tool down at the pub. They also don't design a phone with numbers in mind but they design it with a user in mind. Design itself was primarily not supposed to be a marketing tool but a combination of both the aesthetic and functional aspects. That is why their phones are curved at the back so they feel more comfortable in hand and in the pocket.
I have never met a person with a flat hand or a flat leg. But I sure have met a lot of people who tend to put their non curved device flat on the table just to show other people how weatlhy and dominant they are. The conclusion is that you shouldn't blame a manufacturer because of a incapability of a single carrier. Motorola devices are for users, while some other "fancy name" devices are for the user's image.

bottom of article states that AT&T have a special bootloader animation that replaces the manufacturers one.
So lets do some simple maths - bug when startup/powered on + custom startscreen = source of bug

Buy unlocked 90% of the time even if it usually means second hand,,my god buying locked phones is hated by us lot sim free always way to go.
In UK often being unlocked and buying a sim card and paying 10 quid a month can work out cheaper,however I fully understand many folk do not have the initial outlay for a sim free phone.

Why does this only affect AT&T?
Is there bloatware on it? What have they done to screw up the Nexus 6? I thought the carrier versions are supposed to be identical to the Google Play and Motorola versions. I'd say you're better off with a Nexus device always getting it from Google or the manufacturer. But if you're on AT&T then you'd be throwing away your subsidy that you're paying for anyway.
The real solution, of course, is to leave AT&T which is the worst customer service greediest meanest company ever and a total rip off. Unless you really need their network because no one else has coverage in your area, go for T-Mobile or Sprint.
