AnonD-209094, 28 Nov 2014Thats an improvement, not bad. But still, its easy to cough... morenot such a good comparison since the screen doesn't limit the chipset's capabilites. 720p is more than adequate with 4.7"

Unbelievable !! I will close my eyes and will buy it since this price is very low (1/3 of original cost )

          =PCBA BOM+ME BOM+Manufacuring cost+Shipmentcost to USA+cost for FCC certifications etc is not just $199...

whoever buy it is real wise man..they sell is even in loose for people's benefit.. million thanks to amazon..
pls do the same for Echo as well :)

Thats an improvement, not bad. But still, its easy to cough up more cash to get a phone with decent pixel density, these 720p phones with high end chipsets are quite underwhelmings, its like slapping a turbo charger on a camel, sounds good on paper but has no real life value. Give high specs on the parts that need high specs, the display is by far the main component of a msartphone and upgrades in this area are the most noticeable ones, only kids care if a phone does 35k or 45k in AnTuTu, more than 95% of users will never even install AnTuTu, and of those who do install it only a handful will ever use it more than once.

If the devs can unlock the bootloader and get a custom rom on this phone then this phone will be the best value for money phone available. Snapdragon 800 and 2GB ram for $199 unlocked way better than Moto G if the devs can get a custom rom on it.

Currently on sale only on amazon.com. amazon.co.uk and amazon.de have the phone with an old price or telco lock.
So, the price cut benefits only US :D

Whatever possessed Amazon to price it so highly in the first place. When I first saw the original price, I laughed out loud as you probably did. $200 seems about right but it may be too late - the phone has been branded as a fail. What price a fail phone now?

I am amazed as to why everyone wants to enter the market and compete . Fire OS. Why would someone switch for IOS, Android to FIRE? hardware matters nothings if there is no development.

I would get one if there was Cyanogenmod or some other custom rom developed for it, but there doesn't seem to be any. Awesome hardware specs for the price of $199, better value than Moto G if it had normal Android on it.

It should cost 199 without contract, I mean in the sea of great smartphones who in the world would pay that much for a Fire phone.

For these specs, $199 is a great price. Although it doesn't have the Google ecosystem, the Amazon app store is pretty good. Plus, you'll be able to get a more typical Android experience if you root the device and flash a ROM.

Give users the option to upgrade the software to stock android & amazon will be out of stock for these.
