Eske Rahn, 27 Nov 2014Isn't the ONLY point in buying a huge phablet like the Ip6+... moreNot necessarily. A phablet has some advantages of a tablet but not entirely so. It is still smaller than some tablets. An iPhone 6+ would not replace an iPad Air.

That small difference in size, can make a big difference in certain instances, for example music apps (keyboard)

Comic book readers (the iPhone 6 size is still too small to fit an entire page).

Lastly, gaming is almost always better on a bigger screen.

my opinion, phablets have been the understated need of many people. so hence the shift from fullsized tabs to the very portable versions which include added functionality as a cellphone. they include many functions in one device. they carry the best to be offered by phone and also manage a lot that can be done on a 7inch tab. and this opinion was posted from a phablet.

      That's because it's a new toy.
I have a Nexus 4 (4.7") and a Nexus 7. At home I don't thouch the phone. It's a lot more comfortable to use a tablet at home on the couch or in bed.

I prefer to have a small handset (4.3 - 4.5 inch) mid-ranger & a tablet for home use. I don't want to carry a large phone about everywhere. I totally understand that if you have a large phone, there is no need for a tablet. I am lucky to have both, if my financial position deteriorates before my next upgrade timing I would consider a larger phone and be done with tablets.... However my Lumia 820 and Nexus 7 2013 will hopefully be sufficient for another couple of years as both devices appear to have the backing of Microsoft & Google for continued upgrades. Why replace two perfectly working devices just to 'keep up with the Joneses'....

AnonD-129510, 27 Nov 2014This is very true, the start of tablet downfall has begun.. It could simply be the market maturing, or stabilizing at a certain level.

(Unless used as a handicap device for people with very large hands, impaired motor skills or poor eyesight of course)

              So no big surprise....

Nikki, 27 Nov 2014I end up buying Nexus 6, material design philosophy is very... moreNo, mainly because Apple has its own anti-skeuomorphic design language that it uses across its products that's taken a few different routes.

                Anti-skeuomorphism isn't limited to just Google, y'know.

No offense but I doubt I can get Material Design on Apple device, right? :)

Also, it would be very interesting to see how people would react to Windows 10 on smartphones, waiting for it

Not surprising. This is why Apple made an incremental upgrade to the iPad Mini, efficiently allocating resources.

This has always happened in Apple history, with new products emerging and cannibalising sales of a previous models.

iPod Touch came and cannibalised iPod Classic sales.

MacBook Air came and cannibalised MacBook Pro sales.

As long as the product shift/cannibalisation is still within Apple, then they are still secure strategy wise.

Companies should only worry when sales are eaten by a rival company, such as Samsung low end sales eaten up by Xiaomi.
