Apple announces Q2 results, rules them all

22 July, 2009
Apple just published the financial results for the second quarter of the year and things could hardly be healthier there. The company is obviously unaware of a certain little thingy called world economic crisis...

What do you expect, You could buy the exact same phone with better features and more things with either the same or lower price. whats the need for the expensive price tag its not like their speakers are a good brand, they dont use stainless steel covers etc. so whats the point.
Thats why consumers dont bother looking at this phone, especially the limiting use if this phone is either iTunes or network dependent.

Here in Australia I see the iPhone everywhere. Europe is maybe not as crazy, but it's certainly doing well over there too.

Those customers who HAVE money have invested that money wisely and probably have a business or high-income job to support them.

Anonymous, 23 Jul 2009which is exclusive and "niche". with all due respect. t... moreThink about it this way.

Toyota - makes many different types of cars from cheap to expensive (Lexus), to suit a WIDE range of customers across different countries. Toyota also customizes cars to suit different environments.

BMW - they produce a smaller array of cars but of the same quality, aimed at a PARTICULAR segment of the population. BMW is aiming ad mid- to high-income earners and executives.

We are talking about different companies and different strategies here, you see? Apple has never mass-developed any of their products. The iPod was gradually evolved into sub-products due to demand, which may or may not happen to the iPhone.

Where Nokia try to reach every customer (rich or poor), Apple only look at a particular segment (mid- to high income families and individual). They don't need to adapt a product that sells already. The good old saying "don't fix what isn't broken" applies.

Apple understand their consumers, that's why they do so well.

I personally don't like the iPhone either, but it's not my device. I have an iPod touch and much prefer a SHARP as a phone.

Well according to the numbers of sellnes and profit, Apple might be the only commpany, where the crises didn't affected at all...Can u imagine that, what profit it made in this crise, and what profit he will do in the future. I meen let's be realistic, Samsung & LG never could be commpared with Apple. iPhone,MAC-OS, iPod, are nummber 1 for now in the world...so those who cannot understand or cannot use the Apple products, may use other one's. U cannot commpare LG, Samsung, Nokia... with Apple!

with all due respect. this is "cliche" answer to cover up flaws of apple.. almost too boring to hear. If iphone isn't their main business and not important, we wouldn't have this report here in GSM Arena, would we? you can say anything you want, but the fact that it's just the same boring no creativity design still emerged.

If BMW started making mobile phones, would you compare them to Nokia and LG?

Apple's entry into the mobile phone market was a big RISK which paid off, but they are not considered a dedicated mobile phone brand.
If you asked what Apple stood for prior to the iPhone, it was computers and music devices - and niche at that.

I have no doubt that Apple does not WANT to become another Samsung or LG. If that was it they would go against their brand image - which is exclusive and "niche".

                      Apple:-

The Company has generated a revenue of 8.34 billion US dollars and a net quarterly profit of 1.23 billion US dollars.

                      Lucky Goldstar:-

Sales on a global basis went up 13.8 percent compared to the same period of last year to reach 11.229 billion US dollars. The operating profit jumped to 878 million US dollars resulting in a margin of 7.8 percent, 1.1 percent higher than the previous year.

If these are true, meaning that apple is overcharge their iphone, so they get almost 15% profit ratio rather than LG 7.8%. Can't blame people who saying that apple is fooling it's user.. Infact iboys agree to this foolishness and get really angry when someone telling it to them. And what's to call that if not a sheep? Lol. Lucky apple.

Sadly to say, 8 billion sales quarterly is peanut compare to samsung this giant. Samsung mobile its devision itselfs generate near 10 billion in sales per quarter, imagine thats the total sales apple is getting from ipod, iphone and mac. Samsung electronics including mobile, semiconductor, LCD, quarterly sales average aprox $28billion and this quarter they have tip off before their result that they are expecting sales to reach $30 billion for Q2. Their annual total sales is $100 billion with profit for the last 5 years coming between $5 billion and $10 billion. Look out for their results tomorrow and you will be surprise.

congratulations to apple. once again, apple has proved its haters wrong in saying that the iphone 3gs would fail. jus proves that the iphone is more than just a hyped product as they would call it to be. i upgraded from iphone 3g to 3gs, and someone bought my iphone on the spot at the store where i had it unlocked. the iphone is indeed the most intriguing and desired phone. it's a phone that does not bank on features but rather on usability. haters should just admit defeat.

Apple makes a lot more profit on each product it sells.

They do this by selling the "user experience" you buy something from Apple and you know it just works in an easy, intuitive way.
