Snapdragon 810 issues may delay next generation flagships

04 December, 2014
It appears that Qualcomm is having rather serious issues with the Snapdragon 810 chipset.

Anonymous, 05 Dec 2014Most users don't care about developer support.. Completely agree with you on that. One thing I don't understand with people in this forum. Most of them want only the latest OS version in their mobile. They don't talk about the importance of stability of the updates. It is better to have stable old version than buggy latest version.

although i prefer snapdragon to Exynos
but "IF" 810 would be delayed at least samsung got a 2nd plan here, other companies ? well they have to wait,
        only IF.

Snapdragon has much more developer support than Exynos. That's why many people prefer Snapdragon.

AnonD-326380, 05 Dec 2014"Even if the Samsung decides to carry out Exynos in S6... moreExynos 5422 (s5) is better than snapdragon 801. Exynos 5430 (alpha) is faster than the snapdragon (801) version. Exynos 5433 (note) rapes snapdragon 805.

What are you talking about? You must be an idiot to buy the Qualcomm version if for the same price you can find the Exynos version. All benchmarks show that battery is matched lately (between Samsung and qualcomm) yet in sheer performance qualcomm doesn't hold a candle.

Also Exynos version gets more support in XDA. Galaxy Alpha (my phone) and Galaxy Note 10.1 (my tablet) has a lot more support for the Exynos version. Qualcomm is slow and you can find no kernels or roms. It's sh*t

If you want a cleaner android, more safe and power efficient, you can always go for cyanogem or aosp.

IMO its time for sammy to start mass supply of thier exynos 7 chipset. its solid in every way. i think sammy should ditch qualcomm and focus on exynos all the way as test results showed earlier this year exynos 7 is much better that SD805 i guess for sammy to create a better alternative Exynos version for the SD808 AND SD810 should be easy.

                    enjoy fellas.

And android manufacturers just want to push the specs higher with more cores/ higher clock speed rather than optimizing the software side.
They get to charge you more by saying 'hey look it has octa core/ 4gb ram/ 2k display' rather than saying 'we fixed stuff to work well with quad core/2gb ram/ Full HD display'..

                        cheers mate.

"Even if the Samsung decides to carry out Exynos in S6, the possibility of a delayed final product is still very much present, due to the sheer number of chipsets that would have to be produced." - this is false, because nobody wants Exynos nor in S6 nor other devices - there fore demand will be low and there fore no need to brake head about large numbers of that useless (S6 + Exynos) combo

Overheating ???? what are you lot on about, these Qualcomm chips have never had overheating issues, the s800 in my Z Ultra has been superb up till now, so quick and no lag whatsoever. Remember these are just blatant rumours with regards to the s810, nothing else at this moment so it's no point in any of you make any silly comments.

All ayone cares is design and power. So they make useless phones with enough power for everything and less than enough opportunity to use it (Overheating and pathetic batteries). It's like making a really fast car whith a 5l gas tank and overheating after the first 5 km. Makes perfect sense...

There's no need for more powerful CPUs, they are more than enough powerful already. This will only change if Android gets changed so it's suitable for desktop replacement. And this won't happen soon (Even if it does, the current flagships won't gen the update, of course)

Qualcomm does not have the experience in handling standard ARM designs. It is better if next gen flagships come with 805 , there is no use for 64bit phones when no apps are natively written for it. Instead people should concentrate on performance and minimizing power consumption and improving GPUs.
