AnonD-24213, 07 Dec 2014Not a single Asha phone had Symbian OS.Yeah my bad.The S40 S60 and most of the other feature phone OSes looks the same , anyway the point was that firefox OS/phones is/are not competing with smartphones but with feature phones which themselves are becoming obsolete as low end smart phones are already priced quite low and offer a lot more.

HTML5 apps means apps writen with HTML and Javascript, not a web based apps Like on Nokia Asha series...they actually requires internet conection...

I feel like lazy "internet journalists" are to blame for this misconception (even at big-name sites).

ALL of the apps on the phone are web apps (built with web tech). This includes all the apps that come on the phone itself, which are all offline.

The phone works fine without internet and the apps' internet restrictions reflect similar functionality to apps on other mobile platforms. Games and calculators tend to be fine offline while Mapping and weather apps tend to require a connection.

Firefox OS mostly uses HTML 5 apps so for most of the operation requires an active Internet connection. Definitely, it can't compete against the likes of Android, iOS, WP, Symbian Belle, etc. Even S40 is better than FireFox OS at least Java apps and games works without an Internet connection.

First. This is NOT first it's firefox phone. In 2013 they showcased Fireweb.

Second. This is NOT LG L25, this is NOT part of styLe series. This is LGL25.

Alcatel one touch Fire C with firefox OS has been terrible even for basic tasks, which is what you get for a 35$ smart/ feature phone.

Firefox OS is most comparable to Symbian found in Nokia Asha feature phones line than with smartphones OSes like Android iOS or WP.

Why did firefox make an OS? Do they earn money from it? If so...how can they call themselves non-profit and beg for money from firefox users?

One important correction, this is not LG's first Firefox OS device - they already introduced Fireweb last December in Brasil.

Almost a month back (19th November) we told the world that LGL25 passes through FCC and it's LG's upcoming Firefox OS Device. Upleaks just confirmed it today!
