First comment here, I assume this is meant for china, where, as someone already mentioned, phones can't have wifi, or, this is only partial announcement, makes no sense to take out wifi.

this is a joke. why cant they just put both features of a good cam and wifi in the same device? people now have digicams so the 5800i wouldnt have that xFactor why people would actually buy it.

hi! I just found out that Nokia OTA update has new update for 5800xm.(see my posting date) But it's not the one that has been rumoured. I just downloaded it and it shows no major improvments (not yet. I just had it for 15min). One thig i found out is that all of your settings, sms messages, bookmarks etc. Did NOT erase due to update. But i rekomend an back up been made for just incase.

Non-sense, wi-fi is a vital feature of smartphones nowadays. It's even a dealbreaker to many.

Who cares if theres no wifi? Its a completely useless feature on this phone the internet browsing is terrible! If you need internet get the Iphone or a computer. I have the original 5800 and I think its brilliant, but when I am at home, why would I use the wifi network on the phone when I can just use my computer. Wifi is a ridiculous waste of time and Nokia must have realised this.

Nokia should make an S40 touch phone, instead of trying to make new with old phones...

They also have their own FCC.

lol. They didn't fix the case gap at the top right of the phone... The gap is still there in all of the pictures. What a joke.

I don´t understand what Nokia wants to launch the 5800i, wi-fi is a major attraction in this machine. I see the 5800 original as a great option in place of the N's, good camera, BT, WF, GPS and interface. In Brazil the 5800 is a success and in my view, without wi-fi will be poor.

Anonymous, 31 Jul 2009hi, who will buy this phone without wifi here? lolI will buy it without wi-fi. Some of us actually do not prefer to use wireless internet. Besides, wi-fi is for stuck up fags who wanna try to look cool. Kinda like people with iPhones, except the iFags are worse.

I woulld deffinetly buy this despite not having wifi.I've got a flat-out unlimited data plan so I only need wifi when I leave the country and that's what I have my laptop for. The one thing that's keeping me from buying this or the original 5800 is the build quality. I have a 3300 and a N70; both fine phones. I also use a 6124 as a modem and for surfing the internet when not on a pc. the 6124 is rubish quality wise compared with my other 2 phones. And I can't help but feel that the 5800 wouldn't survive for long before scratches appear. Don't get me wrong, I take care of my mobile devices, but I am waiting for a symbian from nokia better suited to surf the web that's as tough as older nokia phones.
