CAli, 17 Dec 2014Nice points! lol even my mini pro sk17i tft looks better than moto gs ips display!!!!!(i have mini pro and neighbour has moto g we compared video quality and mini had awesome colors due to x reality anf mobo bravia engine and cool black levels man thats a sony super tft!!!!!

even GSMARENA says its display colors are beter than i phone4!!!!!

Not everyone has data quota to download 10 GB of Android source code. Sony should provide flashable zip or ftf. Anyway, the modem is disabled which means useless.

Credit to Sony where it is due. Their timing couldn't have been better, they have been taking the right steps in AOSP so it really isn't any surprise that I ordered a Xperia to gift this Christmas.
All it takes is a very slight tweak to Xperia M2 pricing and they have a fighting chance against what many would call "an unbeatable value" that is Moto G.

I have the Sony Z Ultra, and the display is stunning, the build quality is of the highest quality, colours are the most accurate you will ever see. Are you sure you've owned a sony phone ?

AnonD-89109, 17 Dec 2014Samsung, Learn.They can't. If Sony follows this, the have nothing to lose in the process. Whereas, if Samsung does it with their Galaxy S5, it loses out on functionality. The fingerprint scanner and the infrared module for example. Take the Note series for instsance, the most important factor that makes the Note the best phablet: the S-Pen will be lost. AOSP doesn't have any code for these features. It is added along with touchwiz. Samsung did this with the S4. It has a GPe variant which runs AOSP. Subsequent models cannot be given AOSP without compromising on features. I do not care about the million other Samsung phones that are out on the market. All the budget Samsung phones are absolute waste of money. If you're short on money, pick the Motorola or the Asus Zenfone. They're a much better brand for mid range phones. I've gifted my Dad with a Motorola Moto G and my cousins with Xiaomi Note and Motorola Moto E.
They love their phones. Had I bought a Samsung for the same budget, I'm sure they would've hated it.
I have a Note 3 as my work phone and personally I use the Galaxy S4 that is running AOSP lollipop(released by Samsung).
This makes it better than Sony, because Sony just released the year old 4.4 KitKat with not even the Camera working. And I have a fully functional lollipop version running on my phone. The S5 official lollipop build is already out and S4's will come out in January. Learn Sony.

Don't listen to Tracy1988, he has no idea what he's talking about. He says TFT displays are "cheap," but is too stupid to realize that ALL displays are TFT. Even AMOLED displays are TFT. It just means thin-film transistor. What a maroon!
Take it from somebody who actually owns an Xperia device: the displays are on par with every other flagship phone. If you disagree you are wrong.

Preference dude, all preference. You care for displays, other people care for something else. But I totally agree with you, that Sony Mobile phones have some awful displays indeed, especially it's really laughable when Sony does that, keeping their televisions in mind.
I personally at this moment care about display ONLY on a mobile phone. I thought I could compromise with displays, but nah, I was proven wrong, and thanks to Moto X's utterly awful display, now I'm back on Note 3.
People who prefer Sony phones prefer it for reasons like, looks, built (however it's crazy that people prefer glass built over polycarbonate, while glass is fragile, could and does crack and I just hate it) and camera (they are the best after Lumia line-up, so.). But yeah they are not the best phones out there, I mean far from it. Their phones have poor call quality, built quality isn't up to the mark, unlocking bootloader degrades photo quality and all that.

Aosp is Android Open Source Project, that means android in its stock form without the google bloatware. Sony once again is the only major oem that is friendly towards developers.

Do you know what you are talking about, Sony have the best realcolor and brighted display around the world, their is no single Amoled display come near to.
And yes, w all know that display mate have choose that the Notr display is best of the best, yes sure with payments from samsung with their dirty tactics.

4 xperia phones are the top rankings? REALLY? Sony mobile display is way behind. I bought 3 Sony phones: ZL, ZR and recently the Z3C. ZL and ZR displays are TFT which is cheap and bad. Z3C display is IPS but the color is washed out and I can see the patterns of the touch panel. Sony mobile display technology is way behind competitors and is the worst on the market. I returned the ZR and gave the ZL to my sister. Now I'm not very happy with the Z3C. The visibility do the touch panel patterns is so irritating. Top 4 phones? This site is so biased.
