Therefore Samsung for instance, produces quality phones and tablets and everything else that Apple does too, so people will just go for whatever is cheapest, as obviously the economy isn`t too stabile, people won`t have money too.

I believe that Apple have competent people that know business, however! Pulling out of Russian markets will have a counter effect in time. The Chinese markets in mobile-tech industry are growing as all users and visitors of this website know well, which means; all these Chinese companies will start selling more often their products in Russia.
Russia will adapt to the new environment and will give it`s people products to buy, Whether is Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei or Apple, the phones will still sell.
What is important to consider is that, if one company is not able to provide for the demanding public, then will always be another company to take over. So as for Apple, it may be a good financial move now, but other large companies will take over that part of the world and become the leader seller on that markets.

Anonym, 17 Dec 2014Personally I find it amusing how in your mind there is no m... moreAll companies pulling back and Russia working on their own means exactly that - a closed borders economy, which in turn is exactly what a USSR was a self-sustained closed borders economy.
Russia hasn't produced anything worthwhile in decades. That of course does not include the military hardware.
There is no worthwhile auto industry. Sure, there is AvtoVaz, Zaz, Gaz, Uaz, Maz, TagAz, Kamaz and whatever else I left out, but its all for internal and ex-soviet block production.
There is no computer industry, there is no audio/video industry, there's barely sufficient food production and lots of different types of foods were not produced since the soviet union collapse. All this is due to a lack of modernization of russian goods. In some cases, production lines are the same they were 40-60 years ago.

The only two worthwhile money makers for the country are military hardware production and crude oil exports.

Russia has potential, but its people need to get their heads out of their behinds and see the world for what it really is. Ukraine has a chance, if its nationalists don't screw everything up. Russia's nationalists for now are at the height of their power.

But this is not the proper place to have this kind of discussions, see it as just a remark of curiosity.

Anonymous, 17 Dec 2014Ruble has lost 50% of value. Say you sell iPhone or any ... moreAny company will continue selling their products (at a revised price) up until there is no longer demand at the new price point.

In fact, I don't care if it's Apple or any other company, they would have to be pretty dumb if they were to sit down and not revise their pricing as the currency starts to fluctuate (as you attempt to imply).

You can apprehend from my comment that we do agree on the pricing front, but I am left unconvinced about the whole "let's stop sales entirely" position. Sounds more like an embargo than any real business decision.

Say you sell iPhone or any phone for USD500 in Russian rubles. Suddenly due to price fluctuation that same price in rubles only gets you USD250. You going to continue selling?

People don't use common sense here. Any company will look back and review the situation.

The fact of the matter Apple is puting a hold on selling phones in Russia because it effects their profits nothing more nothing less. There are one the most expensive tech companies and they do bully phone carriers and they do use under hand ways to sell there phone but the end of the day they are a business not a charity.
