Ipoof, 09 Aug 2009Very late. For an sms-exploitable device. Haha.So tell me, how would you make use of this exploit?

      Where would you start?

btw you can try it on an iPhone with 3.01 firmware.

Typcail overpriced, overhyped Apple product. This should have been a built-in app like it is on other real smartphones; why iSheep would buy this for that ridiculous price is beyond me. Oh, BTW, that shiny white plastic Made in China costs extra also... :P

A Nokia Maps subscription is $A99 per year which extends the voice guidance after the trial period, 7 days for E series phones, 3 months for the rest.

To update the maps on my wife's Navman costs $A189.

I don't know why people are whining about developers for the iPhone following normal business practices.

Thieves can even jailbreak their iPhones and steal pirated software just like they can on other platforms.

Th phone uses data (very small, a few k's only, few cents) ONLY on the initial start and whenever the signal is lost and needs to reseek.

Network-based on the other hand is when the device relies solely on triangulation of network towers to identify position, ALL THE TIME. Usually done on phones without a GPS chip, such as the iphone 2g.

Anonymous, 06 Aug 2009i want to know does that require 3g network support? or it ... moreWith both the iPhone 3G and 3GS, they both have built in GPS receivers, so there is no need for it to connect to the towers for assisted GPS functionality.

I use the Sygic mobilemaps and i haven't really had a problem with it at all, i would really like to see how both the IGO and the TOMTOM softwares go.

I am so disappointed with TomTom. I was excited when they announced turn by turn at MacWorld. I've tried many GPS programs on the iPhone, Sygic was horrible (keep trying to look for GPS signal). Navagon was great (so far I'm impressed). I'm gonna get iGO and try it out. TomTom still haven't gotten a release. What's up with that?

I have the original Iphone (metal back)... I have stopped using it all together as a phone... I just use it as a ipod touch - why? b/c it is so damn buggy.

Also, 200 bucks for turn by turn GPS? I went back to using my Black Berry 8800 AND I am using FREE turn by turn voice GPS. I have used my black berry GPS two times this week and it has worked PERFECTLY and it is FREE. Iphone is really screwing over its owners for BASIC things that a phone should come with.

meh.... Windows Mobile phones have had SatNav software offerings for years from TomTom, Garmin, Navigon, etc, etc.

Been using TomTom on my TOuch HD (and Xperia before that) since the start of this year and it's great - no real reason to ever own a "commerical" SatNav ever again :)

I really don't understand why media outlets are making such a fuss about the iPhone getting something that has been around and avaliable for ages. Wonder if it's because Apple bribed them :p

Anonymous, 06 Aug 2009i want to know does that require 3g network support? or it ... moreYes the maps are stored on the phone.

The Sygic maps are only $A80 which is less than a Nokia maps subscription $A100 a year for Australian and New Zealand

The Tom Tom comes with the holder with a GPS booster chip, charging and integration with the cars stereo system it is one of the first things to use the dock connector to add hardware functionality to the iPhone.

Garmin already have Garmin mobile XT (with the latest version 5) working on all Symbian smartphone and Windows mobile phone with only 99 Dollars.

So it is sensible that for them to develop for iphone OS is not on high piority list since all the GMXT are based on mirco SD card which iphone do not have.
