This is for those who received Android 5.0 earlier. Yes, a few users got the update before it was pulled off for some reason. Moreover I believe that's for US customers. Indian users will get in January. Hate Motorola.

Already using Cyanogenmod 12 based on 5.0.1 since the 23rd November on my Moto G. from the last week I converted it to Moto G GPE and started using 5.0.1 stock OS on the phone.

S3 (1gb version) was a slow phone it's true fact, i had one. Unlike you i didn't stop to it and i own 1 phone in most of brands atm.
On Sammobile, i saw that S3 was even updated to 4.3 in Japan, so get some knowledge first before flamming uselessly for years. S4 was and is still great @ 4.4.2.
I have a moto X 2013 (flagship right?) which unlike you think is still waiting for some update : it's at 4.4.4 still whereas i see moto G getting 5.0.1 after 5.0. So before spitting on Samm and their low/mid range, be sure to test all brands first.
And i wouldn't be here reading this news comments if 4.4.4 wasn't buggy on Moto X (starting by the battery draining bug).

Update is not always tied with bugs or resolving problems. Updates also bring more stability, everyday performance. Overall improving everything possible so your device can preform and work as best as it can. If you don't want to don't update. You should be thankful that Moto G is getting this attention, but then again that's why I view Samsung as inferior to Motorola. This and many more things.

Why are you praising buggy Samsung, none of their phone are smooth. Their mid range and low end never get any update and they lag like anything with their buggy touchwiz ui.

Sansung didn't even provide kit kat to their 2012 flagship Galaxy S3. Plasticky design and they ask premium price. For years they haven't given us snapdragon processors they given us buggy and laggy exynos, which heats like anything, no more Samsung.
