In case if self destructive for the yet to be announced phone meant the phone would explode then it would have been a perfect phone for the upcoming James Bond movie. Pun intended.

ssbatman21, 21 Dec 2014ESD is very old way kill the chips..... was used in 90s and... moreWho cares how old ESD is ?, It's still an effective way to kill chips. Much like the Sun, that is very old, but that is still an effective way to sustain life. Would love to see a secure smartphone with embedded highly concentrated acid malfunction while the official user is using it. I can see the headlines now 'Government Official suffers 3rd degree burns from malfunctioning Blackberry smartphone'. Maybe you are tripping on too much acid ?.

Trooper, 21 Dec 2014Maybe Android was requested for whatever reason, and was no... moreYes. My bad.. I read up a bit more and turns out BB is basically providing BES.. And the device itself is in the hands of Boeing so the choice of OS goes to them..

ssbatman21, 21 Dec 2014for all d people who are thinking self destructing means a ... moreHigh voltage static electricity or Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) can kill a chip, PSB or other electronic components instantly. No need for elaborate acids and other potentially dangerous materials. Maybe it's you who should stop watching Mission Impossible type movies.

Concept from Mission Impossible. After all these years,

Its not gonna blow in your hand. Just some elements in phone(memory etc) get higher voltage and just burn... you can try it with some old USB flash drive, just give it eg, 6-7V and you gonna burn it, because normaly USB have max 5V. its seems that 2-3v more is nothing but memories are very sensitive.

BB should had never released BB10 as it is... They should had released a Blackberry OS based on Android, like Amazon. Today they weren't struggling with lack of key apps!
Maybe this will bring a new thinking for the company.
