OnePlus One sold this good because of Cyanogenmod. While ColorOS models are gathering dust, the Cyanogen version is never in stock. Harsh but is the naked truth.
Despite never really being a fan of Cyanogen Inc (I just tolerated it), one has to live in denial not to realize how Cyanogenmod is unarguably the 3rd-party Android ROM with the highest reputation -- and it's not by chance, they have the largest base of officially supported devices, the most number of contributing developers (some of which on the payroll of phone manufacturers) and many other developers build their own ROMs by forking from the Cyanogenmod repositories.

You are not seeing the problem with leaving the cyanogen rom.
Absolutely it isn't the best rom, but having a dedicated team to work for your OS is something really different than having to wait for Oneplus to update the rom. The update rate of the rom was really good, even compared to other big companies. Instead if I Have to see what Oppo did with colorOS, well, they just got 4.4.4. Now is impossible to say if the new rom will be good or updated constantly, but considering they used colorOS, atm, isn't a wrong to presume they will do something similar.

Bu... moreLol who cares the cyanogenmod. its not the best os available. Indeed below average in my opinion. don't say about features now. plenty of roms available that crushes cm away.Most people love the phone. Not cyanogenmod. Cyanogenmod is overrated as hell.
I prefer paranoid android over it. Much more cleaner and much more stable. cyanogenmod was never stable to me

More roms available at xda that are having tons of features and cleaner than cyanogenmod. Omni and paranoidandroid are good examples of its counter part. Please dont say cyanogenmod is great. its just old and well known thats it.

It doesn't matter though. There are still plenty of custom rom available for one plus one even the official cm 11s for 1+1. As long as 1+1 still selling all is well

Cyanogen Mod offers so much customisation. And a key feature, at least for me, called privacy guard. I really do hope they try to bring in as much as possible. Still pissed off because of the stupid contract signed by Cyanogen
