I bought the Alcatel OT PIXI 3 for an emergency backup phone. It was dirt cheap and now I know why. You can't find the stock firmware anywhere so now it's just a paperweight.

Akinaro, 03 Jan 2015Alcatel as far as I know just bought PalmOS so... you know...Just the brand buddy not the OS. HP offloaded webOS to LG before who are now sponsoring the open webOS initiative. From that now there's this LuneOS port:-www.cnet.com/news/open-webos-reborn-as-luneos-for-mobile-devices/

Too bad Alcatel sucks on updates. My tab has been deadboot for years because there's no available stock rom for it.

I'm never buying any product from Alcatel anymore.

This is an awesome idea. Have an SD card loaded with the necessary files to install each of the OSs and ship it with the phone and have an easy to install system where you choose what you want when you first boot the phone up, aroma style. Wonder why this hasn't been thought of before.....

The ROMs don't have to be downloadable. A custom tool might do the switch for the user without the user having to manually download anything.
Anyway, it would be stupid of Alcatel to assume users know how our are willing to personally change the OS.
Most likely, the choice will be made when buying the phone.
But, having the option to change the OS whenever you want would be an awesome extra feature.
