Although, being a SGH-L700 user, I'm in no business with these "widgets", as of yet. However, I will be switching over to Samsung Jet, very soon. I f33l proud to be a samsung user. And YES, as myself a developer, will surely get my hands dirty onto the SDK :D So cheeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrssssssssssss!!!
SAMSUNG Rocks!!!
SAMSUNG is FUTURE!

Keat, 19 Aug 2009I've checked out Samsung's developer site and their widget ... moreIf samsung do think about the usability of API-access and moreover, their customers, i hope some firmware upgrade could do a trick and enable widgets to access phone data!

Anonymous, 19 Aug 2009isn't it the whole purpose of this competition? to realized... moreI've checked out Samsung's developer site and their widget APIs. Unless I really missed something big, there is no way for widgets to access the phone data. Widgets are essentially built using HTML + Stylesheets + Javascript, and executed using the phone's browser engine. Just like the Javascript on a web page can't access the files on your computer, the same kind of restrictions are found here. Nokia's WRT widget 'standard' provides special APIs to enable some access to phone functions, but Samsung doesn't seem to have done so (yet).

the fact i know and people know is :
Samsung overtook sony in 2005
samsung is the most profitable electronic giant while sony and sony ericsson always keep losing their money...
in mobile market : samsung is 2nd biggest, while se at bottomed rank (5th) behind motorola (in Q2 2009)

Unfortunately, the capabilities of widgets are limited. I tried out the Omnia II, and couldn't understand why there was no widget that would list out my upcoming appointments; even the default WM Today screen can do that. Answer: Widgets have no access to PIM items. So there are serious limitations to what widgets can do - at least for this version of widget technology, you can forget about widgets that do stuff like accessing PIM data, using GPS, using G-sensor.

Hi guys,
Samsung never copys from any company, they are always unique in their technology ,extraordinary design as well as easy & user friendly functions, ONE MAJOR PROBLEM WITH SAMSUNG IS THAT ONE CAN NOT CONTINUE HAVE VOICE ROCORDING like Sonyericsson does.
By the way, I'm a Sony's fan as well, but I love Sansung
Cheers

how can you say that samsung is copying nokia and sony ericsson? some phones look very close to some nokias, but sony ericsson? really? sony ericsson is going down, all phones lookalike. The Koreans are bringing amoled screens, HD video recording and so on. They did not copy nokia or SE, C905 does not look like the pixon or innov8, they just have 8MP. DO not speak if you so not know what you are saying!!!
