iPhone is King, 15 Jan 2015And you failed to realise the big picture. Always stuck ... moreYeah. Like the new trend of touchscreens started with the iPhone. Or the brilliant idea of being able to cut and paste text started with the iPhone 3GS. Or the new trend of ever increasing DPI started with the iPhone 4. Or the new trend of 16:9 screens started with the iPhone 5. Or the new trend of 5''+ screens started with the iPhone 6 Plus. Or the amazing new idea of near-field communications started with the iPhone 6.

Apple doesn't lead; it follows. They make things more marketable (like the awful "retina" label), yes. They implement only the basic functionality at first to make sure every new feature gets some time on the spotlight. But it's been a good while since Apple was a true innovator.

nemesh73, 14 Jan 2015you fanboys will never understand and always will say apple... moreAnd you failed to realise the big picture.

Always stuck in Android hole. Telling yourself specs specs specs, only specs.

When new technologies popup suddenly from Apple, soon every firm will follow them.

They set the new trend. Maybe not INVENT a physical stuff. But they DO INVENT new ways of doing things.. and its always start the new trend.

As with everything Apple make. It will be awesome. They make desirable items. Ipad,Iphone, now Apple Watch. jealous people slag off Apple. This will make smartwatches worth having. not the cheap offerings out there already. Now having owned a Samsung Gear, it looks good. and performed well. But its not a Apple Watch

Anonymous, 14 Jan 2015Those who creticise are the ones who can't afford...mind yo... moreHaha because i CRITICISE the iWatch instantly makes me not be able to afford it......Ahh the belief of the fanboy. If you actually read what i said instead of just frothing at the mouth for saying a bad word about an apple product you might have just realised, and i use the term MIGHT loosely, that i actually criticised all smartwatches not just Apples latest money making fad.

My own experiece with Apple products was poor as they were all poorly made and just couldnt do what other products available could. So far Apple haven't made a product that has made me want to buy their products again and that is my OWN personal opinion which no fanboy will make me change.

Oh and i never once mentioned android so why bring it up which proves what a litte fanboy with low IQ you really are.

Anonymous, 14 Jan 2015Those who creticise are the ones who can't afford...mind yo... moreDoes it have:
                          - Optical HR monitor
                          - GPS
                          - Bluetooth connection to headphones
                          - WP level of IP68
                          - Ability to run arbitrary apps
                          - Ability to play well with whatever phone, computer and tablet out there?

That's what I want in a smartwatch. I want to be able to run without my phone with an app from one of the fitness best names (Endomondo, RunKeeper, Strava, etc), monitor my position/pace and heart rate without a strap, all while listening to music and the app's trainer via BT headphones and not worry about sweat/rain/whatever. And I wouldn't want my future choices in phones to be limited by my choice in watch. I would buy that smartwatch no matter how much it would cost.

So no, it's not because we can't afford it. It's because it doesn't meet our needs, which can be different from yours. Remember Apple's former tagline, "think different"; people are different, and want different things. Simple as that.

Anonymous, 14 Jan 2015Couldn't agree more!! Smartwatches are some of the most use... moreThose who creticise are the ones who can't afford...mind you the people who buy Apple products knows what Apple products can give them... They know that they're money are worth buying Apple products...

They already experience how Apple products works, and so they keep on buying no matter how expesive it is because at the end we know that we get what we paid for... We know that at the end we will not regret by purchasing the Apple product unlike the other products which you can only enjoy the product for a short period of tome especialy for the phone...so people already know what product to choose...be wise and be smart in choosing a good product like Apple...

its not the Name or the Logo that attracts us, its the experience and we already trust that Apple can satisfy our needs... Unlike Android phones that gives us head ache...lol...peace out

Please please please can the tech media stop saying the Apple Watch is "eagerly anticipated" and that "the entire industry is on the lookout about the functionality the device will deliver". I have not met ANYONE who is interested in buying this watch, most people are more confused as to what Apple are actually trying to do here. I work in the industry so this is a cross-section of people I've asked. As far as I can tell, almost all the hype is purely being generated by the media, which is a flagrant misuse of their position to inform the populace.

biiuu , 14 Jan 2015Yawn another smartwatch Couldn't agree more!! Smartwatches are some of the most useless pieces of tech going. It will sell as im sure all the ifanboys will be camping out alreadyto get one, the 2 weeks late will simply use it as just a watch like most people who get smartwatches. Not even revolutionary in the slightest. Not highest spec, not best looking, excessivley overpriced but will sell asit has a pretty picture of an apple on it.

Everything is great about this watch except battery life. When apple presented watch they didn't even mention battery life. Apple usually don't do that. I believe first apple watch will be nothing special, but people will buy it anyway because it's apple.
