people just look at the technical specs and forget the most important thing here. Maemo is not like any other phone OS out there. That's why the reviewer/pre-viewer was saying it's the next big thing. It's more like a full computer OS than a smartphone OS. If you have used an of the Nokia internet tablets, you would understand. It can even host USB, plug your USB drive, keyboard, etc.. like a netbook. Dualboot OS if you want. Some have even connected their Digital camera to an internet tablet. It's completely open. Just go google Maemo. Of course if you naturally hate Nokia, that's another story.

djmuzi, 20 Aug 2009why didn't no one write how big this thing is? Like the N9... moreIt is a little smaller than N97.

@Spyros/Cesar.s.c.: You haven't yet tried the key pad, how come u r judging it?
And no, it is not the same features as N97, this one has far better processor, and much more increased RAM, higher resolution screen 800*400, totally different OS the Maemo (Fremantle), Rover's Resistive Touch screen, which is by the reviewer, is almost as identical in its touch experience as the iPhone, but for a different OS.

Really, I can't wait to put my hands on such a one.

Anonymous, 20 Aug 2009"Although the N900 has pretty different looks and feel, its... moreJust for you to know, resistive screens can be too responsive just like the capacitive ones. And if you have read the review you'd had known that the software of this device is not Symbian, it is Maemo (this version is called Fremantle) and it is an open source linux based system. So NOKIA is not dead, it is back again, and this time it will strike so hard!

Fonebox.com, 20 Aug 2009Be interesting to see what Apple have to say about the litt... moreActually, it IS lightyears ahead of N97. Here are a few examples:

              1. 1GB of virtual memory, which includes 256MB RAM (up from 126MB RAM)
              2. Video recording is WVGA@30fps (up from VGA@30fps)
              3. Screen resolution 800 x 480 (up from 640 x 360)
              4. OMAP3 platform (far superior to ARM11)
              5. Beautiful GUI
              6. Smarter open-source OS (can run the full versions of Firefox, OpenOffice etc.)
              7. Kickstand, webcam, more realible design, better quality
              8. And a lot more...
              9. ...as well as everything else N97 had (including 32GB internal, FM transmitter, digital compass and much more)

It is a HUGE upgrade from N97. I'd say the difference between this and N97 is far bigger than the difference between N95 and N97. N900 is the TRUE N95-successor.

"Although the N900 has pretty different looks and feel, its touch experience is comparable to that of the iPhone, according to the source."

i doubt that its comparable to the iphone experience seeing as it still uses a resistive touch screen circa 1980!

capacative touch screen are the way to go
nokia are dead in the water .
android and osx will take over and rule in the next 5 years . goodbye symbian ,goodbye windows moblie

When is nokia announcing their next communicator? Its been ages since the release of e90. E90 specs is outdated compared to n900. Both e90 and n900 are basically serving same purpose of internet browsing but n900 is far far superior. E90 now looks like 9500 and 9300 .

                    FINALLY.............!

A much better looking and promising and exciting looking UI into a nokia touchscreen phone (although its an internet tablet with gsm abilities fused into it, BUT IT DOESNT MATTER WHETHER ALL YOU GUYS DONT LIKE IT OR NOT, CAUSE I LIKE IT). So what it only has 5 mpx camera, so what it has dual LED flash and no xenon, its an internet tablet with gsm abilities at the end of the day, and besides the remaining features rumored seems to me spot-on. And its enough to win me over the iphone 3gs. TRUST ME GUYS, if this comes out, go for it. Its way better than almost all of the market touchscreen phones. Cant wait for the official photos, videos and live hands-on of this phone (i mean gsm internet tablet).

Windows Mobile is going to die in 2012...
What is the future of Symbian? Linux is going to be used also by Samsung...
I wish JavaFX could bind all platforms. Thus we would have been able to run real appications not depending on the operating system...

The gsm/3g is an huge and to Nxxx searies. That was one of the reasons i hawnt bought one yet.

They've not left much time to promote this, and you can bet that people owning a N97 will be cheesed off if it's a better touchscreen device. Is there plenty of support for Maemo? Software?

maybe Nokia will use symbian OS as their mid-range phone

                                    Maemo as their high-end phone

at that time, those satio and omnia hd is what?? mid-range phone XDXD??

Nokia can make the Symbian S60 become very popular, it also can make the s60 become unpopular , that is NOKIA

Hi, there, my name is martin "symbian", i currently have shares in nokia based in finland and I can tell you this phone will be available to buy on the 12th september 2009 from nokia and other major retailers such as carphone warehouse. The phone is great as i have played with it, it comes with a 1000mhz processor, 260mb ram, 32gb internal memory and can expand upto 60gb, its a beauty. The N900 is far way better than the n97 and comes with more accessories than ever. I will be posting moe information later on this website as i cannot let to much slip away. They will be announcements and videos been released soon.

                                      Thank You
