Windows Phone 7/8/8.1 (so the entire Windows "Phone" family) is clearly a failure.
Microsoft finally admits it, and try to renew the brand.
BUT calling an ARM base (or to be more exact a "not X86 compatible") OS Windows, is a mistake, as we seen it with Windows RT.
OK, modern app-s will be cross platforms, and will run both architecture, and on ARM and X86 base OS, but this new OS clearly will NOT be "WINDOWS 10". Windows (Phone) 10 with ARM base METRO Apps just a tiny part of Windows 10. And the WORST part of it.
I hope one day MS will integrate X86/64 base Atom SoC to it's phone, and will run full Windows 10 (or Win11), with wireless display, mouse and keyboard connectivity option. THAT will be the WINDOWS 10 for phones.
This is just the new name the worthless Windows Phone family.
(Still, at least they should make a nice GUI, instead this ugly and boring POS called "Metro or Modern UI).

The name implies only that touch friendly "Modern UI" apps should be unified across form factors, but of course it will still need support from developers.
