AnonD-109551, 26 Jan 2015creating own android derivative with it's own market & ... moreExactly. The value of Cyanogen is that it supplements Google's version of Android, not that it is an alternative to it. Cyanogen provides features that Google won't provide. But without Google apps and services, Cyanogen will be a hobbled joke. I don't know how the Cyanogen devs can so misunderstand the value of what they do. (Although I suspect they are perhaps just tired of being a side kick, they have dollar signs in their eyes, seeing their chance to strike it rich, and if it doesn't work they may just move on to something else.)

To those who say Cyanogen always has some bug, yes that can be true, but no more so than regular Android or the various versions provided by Samsung, HTC, Motorola, etc. And Cyanogen also often fixes bugs and security issues before Google does. So overall I think Cyanogen is probably better on this account than stock Android or Samsung, etc., versions.

Break away from Google and prolly strike a deal with Yahoo (for its Aviate launcher) or any other services by major companies. What?! Independency or dependency? Cyanogen is confusing. Next! (TA as JA accent)

OnePlus should better be looking for a different OS to boot like now!

whats the point of getting independency? this is like tizen vs android: would u buy tizen for its app store or developents? no! so why would i even use CM apps, e.g. CM camera if google cam exists? this only makes sense if cm cam is better than google's but currently it isnt.

Cyanogen will be complete crap if they decide to become independent. The majority use cyanogen because of its Android based OS.

The sun is so shining that the Cyanogen guy is dark, and the themes are darkly because this guy uses googles, without googles it will burn the eyes, be blind, and furthermore die, because many things need to be seen to be done.

digital samurai, 26 Jan 2015I've tried Cyanogen roms so many times, but it never works ... moreAgree! I have one of my phones using CM and there is always one or more bugs. I have not found the stable version available on their web for a long while. (This might be the case only for my S4 mini though.)

Anyway, CM is still a very good ROM for me, but I just think that it is not ready to be stand-alone. Amazon, who is more ready to do so, still struggles to compete with other OSs.

Amazon has already tried to do Android without Google services. If they can't do it in a way that makes anyone care, what makes the chumps at Cyanogen think they can do any better? Cyanogen has nothing that hasn't been given to them by, and in some cases, stolen from, the developer community.

I've tried Cyanogen roms so many times, but it never works perfectly. Some essential thing is always broken. Since their mess about 1+one in India, they can't even be trusted as independent software provider.
