We have battery juice packs and phone chargers. Now, if you cannot live without being able to remove the battery for whatever reason, then don't buy the iphone. There are tons of devices out there with removable batteries.

i need it for bigger space,speed and i wanted to try out s60 5th and i's fun
everything is already on it that the E70 had except physical keys,touchscreen,gps,flash and biggger screen
but to dish out cash for 3g to 3gs is kinda milking badly
same with what nokia did with the 5800 and 5800 navi
i can care less about it
but having an almost 5 year old phone that can push email,mms,forward sms,recording vid/voice wicked battery life
is kinda sad how apple thinks it's cool since it's done their way even though
in general speaking it's been done already

i know the iphone always has battery issues and killed a few people but i didn't hear about anything else injuring or killing anyone except iphone,ipods,macbooks anythign that was so called approved from the FCC which is owned by USA

Plus, I get extra perks like video recording, compass, 3.15mp camera, and the oleophobic coating on the screen. For me, it's worth the update. Others are happy with just the firmware update, and there's nothing wrong with that either. One thing that's neat with the iphone is, they make firmware updates available for all generation iphones. Unless of course it's a hardware update, then you need to buy a new one, but on the software side, 2g iphone can take advantage of the 3.1 update.

And if you look around, other smartphones are also having battery life issues from their users. It's not just the iphone. Apple didn't lie about mms. That's an issue with at&t. Apple did mention in their keynote speeches that mms will not be available with at&t when 3.0 gets released in the US.
